One more thing. Right now I have been listening to a lot of Linkin Park. Normally I'm not a huge fan of angst/whiny rock, but both "numb" and "faint" resonate very strongly with me.

Numb lyrics-
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm tired of being what you want me to be
Feeling so faithless lost under the surface
Don't know what you're expecting of me
Put under the pressure of walking in your shoes
(Caught in the undertow just caught in the undertow)
Every step that I take is another mistake to you
(Caught in the undertow just caught in the undertow)

[Chorus]
I've become so numb I can't feel you there
I've become so tired so much more aware
I'm becoming this all I want to do
Is be more like me and be less like you
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Can anyone guess why that hits a chord? I've spent my life trying to live up to everybody else's expectations, and am trying very strongly to come to terms with myself.

Everything. But I have a strong love for 60s oldies, 90s pop/rock/dance, anything from 2000 and 2001, 80s everything especially soft rock love balleds/duets that you would hear on shows like Delilah & The John Tesh Radio Show.

For current music, I can't stand the hip hop stuff. My favorite current bands/artists include

Postal Service
Switchfoot
Green Day
Jet
Tragically Hip
Maroon 5
Blink 182
Coheed & Cambria
Gavin DeGraw
Keane
Good Charlotte
O-Zone
Modest Mouse
Just Jack
Taking Back Sunday
Goo Goo Dolls
Matchbox 20

Mozart, opera (except for Wagner; you need a Sherpa guide to get through a Ring cycle), Beatles, Frank Zappa, a lot of early music: renaissance and medieval.

Currently in cd player: Machaut's Messe de Notre Dame.

Here's a list and explanation I threw together on another site. I know it's kinda stale to copy & paste but as you can see this is a pretty big list.

Quote:
Jungle: ***Dj 3D***, Snuggles, Technical Itch, Raiden, RAM Trilogy, Dillinja, Lemon D, Ray Keith, Hive, Future Cut, Prisoners of Technology, John B, Soulslinger, J Smooth, Pish Posh, B Key, Dj SS, Chris Su, Aphrodite, Trace, Nico, Ed Rush, Optical, Digital, Simon 'Bassline' Smith, Danny the Wildchild, AK1200, Future Forces, Dom + Roland, Genotype, Knick, The Enemy, Stakka, Skynet, Doc Scott, Black Sun Empire, Eye-D, Temulent, Loxy, Keaton, Dylan, Amazon 2, Mickey Finn, Dj Krust, Suv, Dj Zinc, Dj Hype, and Special K. I'm mostly hooked on the 97 & 98 sounds but some of the 03 and 04 stuff has had some of that same charm to a point. I have one of my own tracks (my remix of Prisoners of Techology - One Two) posted at my web page:

http://home.wideopenwest.com/~db001/5%20PRYME.html

Techno: 2000ish Chris Liberator (I dig his beats but not the political soapbox), Dave The Drummer, Mark EG, Chrissi, Lawrie Immersion, Chris McCormack, T-1000, and Plastikman.

Trance: John '00' Fleming (IMO the god of trance), Paul Van Dyke, Binary Finary, JamX & Dumonde, Digital Blonde, Bodyshock, Dj AT-AT (aka. Voytek), Mark EG, K90, and some Kai Tracid tunes.

Rap/Hip-Hop: Dilated Peoples, Methodman (Tical 2000), Cypress Hill (III and IV), Dj Rectangle, Wu-Tang et large, XZibit, some Jay Z, some Ghostface, some Kool Keith, some Dr. Octagon, and some Mobb Deep.

Industrial: Skinny Puppy, Ministry

Rock: Tool, Linkin Park, not too much else these days.

The thing I love about music is it's like fuel for me. A lot of this stuff I'm into just adds a certain type of energy that helps me push my mood off in one direction or another when I need to, enhance the experience of a mood that I'm already in (so long as it's one I like), and it's almost like an extra added control in adding to myself in ways I'd like to. I'll have this feeling in practically in my bones half the time like I just can't soak up enough. I like the way Mobb Deep put it in Quiet Storm - drugs to your eardrums.

I enjoy all types of music. Many of my favourite tracks are by RnB/hip-hop artists.

The albums I have been listening to the most over the past couple of months would be:

Lucero - Tennessee
Tori Amos - Scarlet's Walk
William Shatner - Has Been
Ryan Adams - All releases
Whiskeytown - All releases
Damien Rice - O
Astral Projection - Ten
Protoculcture - Refractions
Erik Wollo - Guitar Nova
Ulrich Schnauss - Strangely Isolated Place

I have an extensive music collection and listen to many different genres. The music I listen to most is alt-country, psychedelic trance, ambient & lounge. The only types of music I dislike are rap/hip-hop, R&B, and soul.

There was a time I was in love with classical music, but my CD collection was "mismanaged" by an irresponsible friend and I lost the hundred or so CDs I had collected. I have yet to begin replacing my collection and will not do so until I have the appropriate hi-fidelity stereo system on which to listen to it. There is no way I am going to listen to classical music in MP3 format.

This thread made me think of Alice Cooper's Black Widow
I used to know it of by heart. And I like to say it in the Vince Price voice too.
