Just writing to introduce myself.
My name is Anrew James Latham, and I am currently studying Cognitive Psychology at the University of Auckland. I was diagnosed late in life, with an intial assessment pertaining only to OCD. When this failed to account for all that I was, the diagnosis, of Asepergers was made by one source and High Functioning Autism by another.
I have a special interest in Conciouness and the notion of Cartessian Dualism and other philosophies pertaining to the mind.
I am glad I have found this community and would love to contribute in some way, via the posting of fture research that I wish to undertake and the sort.
Thank You,
Andrew James Latham |

Haere mai Andrew James Latham,
Your topics of interest....seem interesting.
I have heard of cartessian dualism, but I can't remember the context. |

Hi from a fellow Kiwi, your research sounds interesting and if you want to do any in NZ happy to pass on details to fellow Kiwis on AsPlanet for you.
Philosophy of mind intrigues me, as I try to unravel my own complexities, my personality being blurred edges of reality, as diagnosed late in life what part is aspie and what part enforced NT! _________________ "Believe in your self, we are who we are - as it can feel like an endless task trying to be someone else!" Welcome on this Planet.
And one day I like to dispute the concept of Cartessian dualism with you.
Best of luck,

Thank you all
Erminea:
I am always open to a discussion that can help as both delve deeper and constructively while allowing us to learn more about our 'mind'.
Asplanet:
Interesting question, the aspergers part is quite easy to identify, with singular focused interests to the point of obsession being the most obvious. My social skills however are not to bad, and I think this is due to being socialised as an NT, therefore discrepencies were punished, allowing me to learn how to communicate and behave in situaltions. i.e. my behaviour became a function of my environment. |
