If anyone on WP lives in Boise, or has visited Boise, I am interested in knowing what the city is like--social climate, job outlook, etc.
Social climate: Is Boise socially liberal? Or is it like the town from Footloose, only much much bigger?
What is the job outlook there. I have heard that the cost of living is among the lowest in the country.
What is the weather like there?
The reason I am asking is because I need to make a final decision on a school--and I am leaning more toward Boise State University.

If you watch Napoleon Dynamite and attend your local mormon church, you will have a very clear understanding of the culture of southern idaho. One error in the movie though, most people in southern idaho don't like black people, even though most of them have never seen one except on television. The mormon church granted equality to black people in 1977 and issued their first statement against racism in 2006, if that gives you an idea.
The mountains are beautiful and the weather is great as long as you don't mind long winters.
If you're thinking about living in a place for four years, I would strongly suggest visiting there first. _________________ Thou out of heaven's benediction comest

If you don't mind the temperature being below zero for months on end, and everyone's hobby being getting drunk until they pass out, it's a great place!!!
They also enjoy hunting large animals that can tear you to shreds if you miss you shot. |

What does Boise have in store for a semi-practicing Lutheran who is somewhat socially liberal?
Or am I better off going to Montana?
