I've never understood why people thought human babies were so cute, or when they're all like, "Oh [insert parent's name here], [insert baby's name here] looks just like you!" Babies look the same to me until they're about a year old. And I'm not very comfortable with them either, especially when someone suddenly thursts them to me. I'm like, "Take your baby! I don't want him!" I'm no good with kids in general. If they're maybe ten and up, I'm OK.

And that's why I'm really thankful that Child Development 101 was an optional class in high school!

I find babies cute and adorable. Babies become cuter when they start to smile and interact more say around 4 months. I have nephews and a niece, but no kids of my own.

Some are cute. All are annoying.

All babies are cute to me. But the fact that mammalian babies spend weeks to months growing quite parasitically inside their mothers, often until they grow too large for the mothers to sustain them in that manner, really creeps me out. Luckily, I had a brief respite from this point of view when I was pregnant with and nursing my son-- oxytocin kicking in, I guess, and he's still the love of my life. But overall, somehow laying eggs make more sense, and seems nicer for the mom.

I go to a child free board because I have not children and its not that I hate them but I am just not interested. I don't understand why everyone goes "ahhhhh" over a baby. I heard on a show (Dr. Phil?) that women do that because of the oxytocin so don't expect a guy to be like that. Anyway, one reason might be because if I know a woman to talk to, as soon as she gets pregnant and has kids I have lost a friend. I am sure this has happened to many women too with their friends. Totally cool and interesting people then all they talk about is poop, Pampers, breastfeeding, when their child crawled. How boring.

Admittedly, I hate children, especially babies. It has been like this all my life, even I was still a child - never liked the little ones. Don't find them cute, but rather "unnecessary": they create unbearable noises/smells, always want attention etc. What I dislike in particular is people congratulating others on the birth of a child. Well, I never join in. To most people, that just seems rude, though I'm just being honest: I don't like children, cannot imagine ever having one of them, and I just cannot see any reason why I should congratulate someone on something he cannot possibly have wanted... Rolling Eyes At least that's my way of seeing things.

If you ask me what I find cute, I'll most probably say: kittens... I love them.

I am shy to admit, but I really do not adore human babies. When I was little virtually all other little girls loved playing with their cute dollies.....well, I liked blocks and disassembling things. Then, when I was a teenager my female peers loved ooggling (is this a word?) over babies and wanted to hold any newborn. For me, no. I never had a connection to babies - still don't. Unknown why, but I do not like the scent of human babies. I feel no desire to hold one.

Now I can like children, or at least some/most children, because I can like their personalities and they're fun. By the time they're in school they're using their minds and learning. I appreciate that. Now, I probably would not want to be in a room full of them for any length of time though.

My female friend is married and they're planning on having a baby in the fairly near future - she positively fawns over babies, loves looking at pictures, etc. She'll actually trade her science profession for changing diapers, spit-up, feedings, and care-giving of a helpless drooling small person that cannot contribute or communicate meaningfully. Geez, why not just work in a hospice?

Conversely, I LOVE baby animals!!! Bring on the kittens and puppies...and every other species! Darling. I plan on having a cat someday. Someday I'll meet that special man and I'll have his puppy Cool

Hi.
I've always felt a little weird with the fact that as a female I feel uncomfortable around babies, and don't find them cute. They are bald drooling blobs who don't start looking human until they are past toddlerhood. What's more odd is that I find baby animals cute, and they have the same "evolutionary cute" characteristics as human babies ie, large skull, relatively flat face and big eyes.
I wonder if that's an Aspie trait, or do most female (or male) Aspies find human babies cute and it's just a quirk of mine?

When someone comes in with their baby (ex: the waiting room in a doctor's office), I feel uncomfortable if the person sits nearby and especially if the baby cries (the screeching sound rouses highly disturbing images of possible parental neglect or abandonment.....not necessarily that baby but any baby...... ) A high-pitched, piercing wail is the ultimate symbol of powerlessness and pain of the human condition and is disturbing on so many levels...can't begin to describe. Even if a baby is not crying, I generally feel uncomfortable yet notice others smiling or giving it prolonged eye-contact....
