Hello I'm new here. I have recently discovered I have Aspergers, although I havnt formally been diagnosed. I've had a difficult life, but it became even more so when I had children. My oldest, I believe has Aspergers too. I've felt it very hard to connect emotionally with him, and have a hard time emotionally period. I have a 3 year old who is NT and a husband who is NT. We struggle in our marriage because I hold everything in, but now I realize why it's so hard for me! Just needing like likeminded people to chat with!

I'm not an adult yet, but I'd still love to be your friend! How old is your oldest with suspected Asperger's?

Hi Countrymamma,
I just signed up a few hours ago and I came across your post. I just wanted to greet you and say hi. I don't have any children but my significant other is NT. He's intrigued by a lot of my differences but has a little trouble understanding me emotionally. I was diagnosed as an aspie... by the time this had happened I had been misdiagnosed so many times that I never really bothered to learn about autism. I had lost any faith I may have had in psychologists because of some of the BS they put me through. Had I learned about sooner, maybe I could have understood myself better at a younger age.
Either way, I ended up here and I am glad you did too.

hi Countrymama,
I wanted to say hello to you also. I am new here also. I just registered today, Easter Sunday. I haven't been formally diagnosed yet with high functioning Autism, but I realize after, also having a very difficult life and being sick for many years, that I am really high functioning Autistic. I have so many symptoms of Autism and have had my whole life. I have always worked full time and just tried to be the best person I can be. But I have suffered with the following and been formally diagnosed with the following also, my whole life: Asthma, allergies, bronchitis, digestion issues, chronic fatigue, ADD, kidney stones, depression, post pardon depression, low birth weight, lactose intolerant, intolerance to gluten, etc. I just ordered the book: Breaking the Vicious Cycle and I want to start the Special Carbohydrate diet, SCD to try to heal myself and detox my body. I am also going to start Ionic Foot Baths with a holistic practitioner to detox my body of Mercury and heavy metals. And I am having the Amalgum silver fillings removed from my teeth by a holistic dentist. I wish I was aware of all of this earlier in my life.
How are you doing? I am so glad I found this site. I have felt so alone with dealing with all of this and that makes me get so depressed.
Take care. |

hi there, nice to see you on this discussion forum.
Like you, I have a teenage son, like me, is high functioning autistic, neither one of us officially diagnosed with autism, but we both have been diagnosed with many symptoms of autism, how about that. And the doctors want to keep us on all this medicine, but we just started doing things holistically and naturally and we are going to start the Special Carbohydrate Diet as soon as I receive the book I ordered outlining it.
How are doin with dealing with all of this?
Take care.

Wow I'm overwhelmed by the responses! It's so nice to find those in common with me. My oldest who I think has Aspergers is five. He's very routine oriented, likes things a certain way, and hates to get his hands dirty. He is always organizing and lining up his toys while he plays. Some days are easier than others, some days extremely hard. I'm not very patient, and he can be quite stubborn, not a good mix!

Hey country momma, I'm chris, I love to socialize and joke. My girlfriend is an aspie. We have fun with the awkwardness, but it can be really hard too.
