| Im in my twenties have had a few girlfriends and they come and go but i just cannot wait to find The one having sex with her and enjoying life as a parent. This is sorta like a weird question for me. Because autism and aspergers both always have that touch barrier but im in school for emergency medicine and i touch people all the time. And i get to learn how to deliver children tommorrow. Just i was wondering if im the only one or are there others like me that are aspergers in some ways but in others not so much. Please i do not want people who have already experienced this to respond. Thank you |

| OMG me too! must be an aspie thing, i dont like the dating scene and when i look for a signifigant other it is actually me looking for a possible future wife, i dont wanna waste my time on something that has no purposeful ending.. |

Touch may not be a complete aspie thing because if it was no aspie would have kids.

is the OP asking for advice from people who have problems with touch or from people who don't?

Tactile sensitivity is one of my primary issues but it is an overgeneralization to say that all Aspies have touch issues in the same way as it is to say that all Aspies are hypersensitive to lights or sound. Having said that, there is a HUGE difference between touching and being touched. In other words, if you are training as an EMT, you are the one doing the touching and you are in control of when and where you are making contact with another person. Quite a different thing than having someone unexpectedly tap you on the shoulder and jumping a half a mile.
So in your situation, while I'm not saying you do have touch issues, don't assume you don't simply because you are training for a profession where a lot of contact is required. If you are having trouble with relationships, it could be for a variety of reasons that are or aren't related to Aspergers. Tactile sensitivity, poor social skills or you simply haven't found the right person. In a nutshell, you sound a lot like me a few years back. I work in emergency services as well but had no luck with relationships through my 20s. When interacting in social situations, you don't have control over anything in the way you do at work where your job is to take control of every situaton you face. Interpersonal relationships have always been a sticking point for me and it wasn't until I pretty much gave up on meeting a mate that I finally found one. Go figure. |

| thank you all for all the input i dont have touching issues just sometimes its sorta a problem. All aspies have problems im just sorta out spoken about mine. It is amazing to know that there are others like me though. Im just sorta looking for the right girl i guess |

Exactly, What is the benefit of going out with somebody for maybe a month. I've literally seen a girl go through more boyfriends than years I've been alive (15) in the time I've been with my girlfriend (4 months Friday). I chose her because I saw potential for Long term, wife seems too optimistic but I can see a few years a head at this rate if everything goes as good or better as now. |

| I would like a long term relationship but it's difficult to maintain one and I somehow always seem to drift away from the person. I guess people that can maintain a long term relationship are lucky, I think some people are better at having long term relationships and some people aren't, I guess it just depends on the person. |
