The internet is to valuable a source of influence, it may happen this year, in 5, 10, 20... but it will happen. |
unfortunately at that time the classic centralized internet is already dead,
piratebay is researching true cloud computing using flying data carriers and node networks like tor and similar have never been more popular.
if they in 5 to 25 yearas do decide to control everything on the internet it would require banning alternatives, should such a law pass i would not follow it.
and the implications would mean riots, acta and cispa already gathered enough attention for concern imagine how people would ifght true information monopoly.

| Though I don't care to start a political argument that draws things against what the issue actually is here, I find it almost distressing that both left and right groups would have serious problems with this that aren't being addressed by congress. Naturally, I'm sure many liberals would be concerned about an infringement of personal freedoms and I'm sure many conservatives have a problem with the government leveraging any sort of new regulation. On the other hand, people in congress that claim to express both of these philosophies are trying to say that CISPA is compatible with them. That's absurd. CISPA represents both an attempt at censorship while at the same creating new regulatory powers for federal authorities. I can't see how anyone of either part of the dichotomy could actually like it. |

Who are you trying to convince? Others, or yourself?
Nothing is done yet, by the way. It has only passed House, so far. It will have to pass the Senate, still, and even if that would come to be, Obama seems to want to not be useless, for a refreshing change, and has threatened to veto it if it'd pass. Being Obama, the question only is if he means it, or if it is just empty words. |
