-I still use email for my non-FB friends and for other purposes.
-I don't drink. Never have and likely never will.
-Aside from how I hate how slanted news is today, I get what news I need online.
-The one I have works fine and, of course, the gas.
-There's a wire inside my condo somewhere that keeps disconnecting my service and I have to keep calling the stupid phone company to get my service back up. I really need to cancel their service and save myself an unnecessary bill. That and there's that whole cell phone thing...
-See my comment on drinking.
-Desktop CPUs are like cars, only without the gas and insurance issues. Same thing goes for when it comes to replacing one.
-TV's a f****** joke these days. You make a minimal budget reality show, expect minimal viewer interest. It's that simple. |

I was at university before Facebook became open to non-academic email addresses so am probably just in the Facebook generation (but at the older end of it).
The article is using "The Facebook generation" to describe an age range, rather than implying that Facebook caused any of the changes (apart from possibly the alleged demise of email).
Email- I use email as my main form of communication. It is as easy as sending a Facebook message, but has many more potential recipients including businesses. I like the fact that email is detached from a social network. Text messaging is fine, but limited in scope. The move towards smartphones has made email and text messaging more linked.
Beer- I like beer (especially ale) with taste.
Newspapers- This is a trend over many years. With 24 hour TV news and websites, a daily newspaper seems a bit out of date.
Cars- This is down to economics and need. I have a car, but do not use it much. When I was working I had to drive to work due to the shift pattern so I needed the car.
Landline 'phones- The only way I can get broadband (at a reasonable cost) is over a landline (if the local cable company worked out they had installed cabling to my flat there would be a bit of a saving not getting a landline installed). My (3 person) flat averages over 5Gb download a day so mobile broadband would not be an option.
Cigarettes- This is an ongoing trend, increasing legislation makes smoking less convenient and more socially shunned.
Desktop Computers- I currently use a laptop. If I get my flat cleared a bit, and get a proper desk I may get a desktop sometime in the future.
Television- I have not turned my TV on in a few years, I get all my programming over the internet. |

You need an e-mail to sign up to Facebook anyway.
Beer is still going around.
Newspaper will probably go.
Cars are a necessity.
Landline phones may still be around.
Cigarettes (see Beer)
Desktop Computers still have a purpose.
TVs are still going around and still continue to do so.

1. I despise facebook so I still use email.
2. Meh, I've never had beer since I'm only 15, but based on its smell, it all seems equally disgusting.
3. Newspapers are garbage in print form. They waste paper, ink gets on the fingers, and they are really annoying to flip through. Oh and they update daily, while I can check the news on any of thousands of sites of my choice at any time of day. I don't remember the last time I've even seen a newspaper.
4. Cars are pointless for most purposes, pointlessly expensive, and difficult. I have no intention of getting one (no matter how much my family objects to this choice)
5. I don't like phone in general, but given the choice I would go with a cellphone. Usable anywhere, internet access, etc.
6. Great, now just have the same reduction in older people.
7. Desktops are better in terms of lasting longer and proccessing ability and such normally, but I have a laptop. I really should have gotten a desktop instead (planning to build one soon though)
8. Why bother with TV when you can watch just about any show or movie ever made online, many of them for free, with less comercisls? The only downside is buffering, but that can be avoidrd by having a fast connection a lot of the time (thoug sometimes its the website thats slow) |

1. I still use email regularly.
2. I don't drink alcohol at all. It's got nothing to do with my age and everything to do with the fact that I think alcohol tastes gross.
3. I rarely keep up with the news through any medium. If something in the news is really important or it's relevant to me, somebody I know usually tells me about it in person.
4. Public transport is much cheaper, especially for people like me who rarely go anywhere that isn't within walking distance. It'd be a waste of money for me to get a car, and I have some quite serious sensory processing issues that'd make driving more dangerous for me anyway.
5. As long as landline phones are available, I'll have one in my house. I don't like mobile phones very much so I'd prefer to use a landline for calls. When I did have a mobile phone I only used it about once every two months.
6. Never have smoked, never will. I don't like the way cigarette smoke smells and if I'm going to do something unhealthy I want to actually enjoy it.
7. Laptops are portable but from what I've heard desktop computers usually give better performance and last longer. If I could afford it I'd have both and use them for different purposes.
8. I don't watch television shows online. My tv screen is bigger than my computer screen, so it makes more sense to watch things on the tv. |

I watch tv when I can mnost of the time I watch the science channle history channel national geographic channle animal planet military channel BBC America. |
