It's a good album, but doesn't even compare to Rush - 2112 ^_^

I know it's such a cliché to say, But I'd say the best album is Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd

If you listen thru it in one sitting I guarantee you, that you'll get shivers. Smile

"clap hands, here comes charlie!" [charlie balogh @ the organ stop wurlitzer] IMHO, a person would have to have a heart of stone not to smile when listening to this CD, played back on a high fidelity audio system.

My favorite band is Rush but my favorite album is Pink Floyd's The Wall. I love Dark Side of the Moon as well but no quite as much.

I guess this is a silly question, but I promise you I mean no disrespect by it. Did the group take its name from the album of the same name by Deep Purple? I'm an old guy,and don't know squat about music from, say, 1989 on, with only a few exceptions.

(Thumbnail, b/c I'm feeling too lazy to resize anything this AM.)

FWIW, as a youngster I probably lost 10% of my hearing listening to Lazy over and over through headphones. Something about the first two minutes being an unaccompanied organ always grabbed me. But, I gotta admit, it doesn't seem to have held up all that well through the years, assuming the version posted to YouTube is a fair reproduction. Sad (I'd especially forgotten how utterly banal the lyrics are. I'd say the song would've worked better as a straight instrumental.)

=============****==============

And my personal "greatest" album of all time would have to go to Hendrix's first.

Even though I was 2 years old when it was issued. Razz

"You'll never hear the sound of surf music again"...Indeed.

i was lucky enough to be in the front row of a rush gig in birmingham a few years ago and got one of geddy lee's tee shirts from the dryers that were on the stage. i've still got it somewhere but it's too big to wear. 2112 is a great album!

Its not a silly question, and your probably right. named after a deep purple CD, actually that rules! I love the color purple and that band, Cool

Glad to see a Celldweller listener, shame his music has been crappy dubstep rock lately. Symbiont and The Last Firstborn were incredible.

I can't really choose a single album, but here are some that I would nominate:

Opeth: Morningrise (Yes, I am aware they had a big style change later; I have Still Life and it is good, but I prefer the instrumentation on Morningrise)
Damageplan: New Found Power
Machine Head: Through the Ashes of Empires
Sevendust: Alpha
Stone Sour: Self-titled/Come What(Ever) May (both are awesome for different moods)
Trivium: Shogun

Yeah, I consider Klayton's debut album to be the definitive electronic rock/metal album. I do like Wish Upon a Blackstar too, though; not much of a dubstep influence in most of those songs, and still a decent variety of tempos and styles.

I will add another candidate: Soundtrack to Your Escape by In Flames. Very divisive album, but it pretty much saved my life, especially Discover Me Like Emptiness.
