Other NT friends are more like "drinking buddies" i.e. we hang out and ride bikes and drink beer and joke about a lot of stuff so my Aspiness doesn't seem to bother them...I actually think most of them appreciate my different perception of the world. It makes mundane occurences more interesting to them maybe? |
That's pretty much how my relations are with all my friends. I'm a MTBI type ISTP, this pretty much hits the nail on the head as far as me and my friend situations...
| Quote: | ISTPs usually have a selection of friends who share their love of particular hobbies and pasttimes. They might have a friend who they ski with, and another who they shoot pool with, etc. They generally have no interest or patience with individuals who do not share their interests, and will spend little or no time with them. They have a difficult time understanding people with extremely strong iNtuitive preferences, and are not likely to spend time with these individuals unless they share a common interest or hobby. They enjoy spending time with Extraverts, whose enthusiastic, talkative natures are attractive to the more reserved ISTP, but they will eventually tire of their "bubbliness". The ISTP is able to get along well with people of any personality type, but is likely to value and bond only those with whom they have common interests.

I've got one diagnosed Aspergers friend (though an online friend, but he's been my friend for years), and one diagnosed NVLD friend. They're pretty good to be around/talk with. I have one friend who's half black, and that presents a lot of problems for him in interpersonal relationships, and it's entirely possible he's got AS, but has learned to mask it well enough. My sisters say he's the black version of me. So, I'd consider him NT, but... a bit different, to say the least. I think a lot is just race, half black people really got it extraordinarily tough.
But yeah, that paragraph is usually how my friends work. _________________ Too kawaii to live...

| I (used to, but will again eventually) have a beard in Highschool. I feel my NT friends just like me for my beard, though it may just be stupid freshmen. They have threatened me that if I shaved my beard (which I wasn't planning on) that they would stop being friends with me. |

My best friend is an undiagnosed HFA (very subtle though), another has dyslexia and some sort of auditory perception disorder, and another I think might have OCD. Yeah, I don't have a lot of "NT" friends. However, I have to live with a bazzilion NT siblings, and they just kind of accept me as I am. I do have a lot of NT acquaintances though and people I've worked with for years; none of them have asked me if there was something different about me yet. _________________ I Like Trains. |

I have never met another Aspie- well I have possibly met two but one, who is in my history class is like me and would never approach the subject and. Then other is a six year old slight quieried Aspie.
I am closer to my best friend than I am to my Mum- which I hate, I'd love to be able to have the same conversations with my mum that I can with my friend but it's really not that easy. My best friend has very bad dyslexia and has been bullies for it in the past, she also gets worried about things and has the same tendencies to obsess over a certain subject. I also have another three very closes friends- only seven of my close (or not close any more as the case may be) friends know I have aspergers, some really don't get it though. My best friend has been better than anyone and knows me better than I know myself most of the time! _________________ ~Pixie~ |
Twihards they are like physics hard to understand but physics actually makes sense
I would totally disagree, twilight has been my special subject for almost three years and makes perfect sense to me- to be fair I don't really like the three main characters or the point of a love triangle which- as a friend of mine pointed out- would only be a low triangles if the boys liked each other too. But I love my fave couple (one of them has defiant aspie traits) and the whole world of it but I hate physics- it makes no sense to me at all, I get chemistry (sort of) and biology but definatly not physics! _________________ ~Pixie~ |

The main love triangle makes me dislike Twilight for some reason but you've got a point. Twilight has a lot of morals but the main love triangle makes the morals seem invisible at times, And everyone has different interests. _________________ Even in the darkest of times there is light to guide you. |

My NT friends are all very nice to me. I'm sort of a source of entertainment to them, like lots of inside jokes have developed from me mishearing things and they like hearing about the quirky things I do, also we share socially awkward stories.
I have two aspie friends and I find that I'm much closer with them than my NT friends. I've also noticed lately that all my good NT friends have slight AS traits. |

| I've only told one of my NT friends. They're fine with it and treat me exactly the same with a bit more understanding. Those that don't know say "the world passes me by!" Because I'm that immesersed in what I'm doing and not really listening to them talk about boring things! =D |

I only have NT friends and all of them know about my Asperger's. They treat me like one of their own and it's great Sometimes I think that they try to protect me from the jerks at school because of my Asperger's, but I'm fine with it as long as they don't disrespect me as a person. |
