I don't know. There are cardiologists who smoke, cops who do illegal drugs, hairdressers who overprocess their hair. The world is full of complex choices.

I don't see anything strange about possessing knowledge not used for one's own benefit. I know a lot of nutrition and am a professional cook but I love french fries, cakes and pastries... can't really do much about the way we're wired. Wink

It just goes to show you that you don't have to practice what you preach, especially if you get paid to do it. These people are most just learning from some book or instruction. Some of it isn't that hard. It's like being employed by a retail store and they train you to answer the phone a certain way. Don't mean you're going to answer it the same way on your own personal phone.

Well, if they're only nutricionist I guess it's fine, but if they were weight loss coaches or something that would e unacceptable. They just wouldn't have the authority to say "it is possible to lose weight following my advice", for me.

There are atheist priests, so I guess it's possible.

My spinning trainer(inside cycling) a few years ago were obese, but man she was in good shape(apart from her actual shape). People do exist, yes.

Personally, priests should not be atheists. why preach something you don't believe in?

Quote:
A seminar student approached a cardinal with the following words: "Cardinal, there has been something that has troubled me greatly the last days. The more and more I study theology, our faith, the more I read, the less and less i believe in God. What should I do?" The cardinal answered him: "When I was your age, also a student at my seminar, I had the same doubts in my mind and came to the conclusion that God doesn't exist. but look at me, I'm a cardinal, I've got a nice home, a nice car, a lot of status among my peers, and I lead a great life. This is my wisdom.

I wish I had a better translated version with more scholarly-sounding words, or at least the original text in spanish -_-.

Btw, when you say "obese" do you really mean obese or do you mean overweight? Obesity is an extremely overweight condition.

Obese >= 30 BMI
So you can be obese without looking like those you see on the news who can't be removed from their bed without removing a wall. I would call that extreme Very Happy

Perhaps some of these individuals were obese before becoming nutritionists?

Perhaps they became nutritionists on their own pathway for personal answers and also because they wanted to help others?

I have some colleagues who are dietitians now who are overweight. Before they got into the field, they were obese though, and that is part of what lead them to that field in the first place.

One can know how to do something well, but not do what they know for themselves. Some times they have no choice as well.

A obese person can know a lot and that's all you really need when you're a nutritionist or even many other health related professionals for that matter. It's the knowledge that counts, but their image can influence their business as well, so I understand where you are coming from. Like the old saying goes "Don't judge a book by its cover".
