I could watch this for hours if it were actually in front of me! _________________ “Standing on the fringes of life... offers a unique perspective. But there comes a time to see what it looks like from the dance floor.”

Love watching old machines work, there's a beam engine in the British science museum and I could watch it for ages.

I have a distinct memory from Elementary school where a photocopier going made me almost instantly go into a trance. It was one of the most soothing sounds I had ever heard.
Spent a summer holiday from uni working in a records company, 7 hours a day just me a photocopier and 1,000,000 historical records to be copied. Still one of the best jobs I've had.

I can't stand certain mechanical noises, like belt-sanders or painfully loud planers. but I do like "softer" sounds, like chainsaws (if that makes sense), printers putting out paper, and computer start-up noises, or old modems connecting to the internet when they make that Matrix-sounded buzzing noise.

The first thing that came in my mind was an excavator digging. As a kid I loved to watch it and other similar machines working. I loved (and sometimes still do) watching reels of old tape recorders while listening to them. I also have a certain fascination with mechanical clocks. _________________ Another non-English speaking - DX'd at age 38

I love watching, building and modifying machines. CNC machines are my favorite. I can watch CNC machines for hours. Their inhuman coordination and precision never fails to fascinate. That is one reason why I have three of them. I would have more but they are rather large and usually weigh several tonnes.
I wish I had one of these:
