Ughh..5 pages in, and there is NO way they're Christian! I never refer anybody as trash, Christian nor the others! Besides, ''Love the sinner, hate the sin.'' never came before their eyes nor ears. At LEAST, get that part if you want to pretend you are! Though, I do know this is a parody website, they have ventured too far.

When I saw the title of this thread, I had to check it out, because the "hateful Christians" issue is a personal one for me: I was raised fundamentalist Christian but converted to Catholicism as an adult, in large part due to the fact that I could not deal with the hateful attitudes of many in the evangelical community. Just a general FYI: while I realize that the Landover Baptist site is an over-the-top parody, some of the postings in that forum accurately reflect the opinions held by some evangelicals in regard to autism and/or Asperger's. I have AS myself, as does my 9-year-old son. A few of my relatives are still active evangelicals, and they have made comments, both verbally and in writing, that indicate their belief that AS is not a neurological condition, but rather is due to sin, the work of the devil, or is entirely made-up by people who don't want to take responsibility for their actions. Another popular theory attributes the rise in autism diagnoses as indicative of the moral decline of society. One person stated outright that AS is "an excuse for bad parenting. No one had this when we were growing up." I informed her that actually, I did indeed have this when we were growing up, but no one knew what it was then, so they just blamed me for being "weird," "anti-social," etc. While I can't imagine an actual Christian using some of the language found on the Landover Baptist site, the ideas expressed there do exist and are evidently being perpetuated in certain evangelistic circles.

I agree that the Landover parody site goes way too far and is way beyond a joke in good taste. It issometimes difficult for those of us with AS to know whether people are joking or serious, and reading some of the comments on the link, I see either sarcasm taken way too far, or a couple of wannabe Fred Phelps types that really believe what they're writing.

I was very upset when I first came across the Landover website by accident, a number of years ago, and at that time didn't realise it was a parody. I was all upset, and told my partner what I'd seen and I needed medication to calm me down as I'd never seen anything like it before!

Despite it being parody, and the fact that I am a liberal who believes in free speech I feel it should be closed down because of the fact that so many people believe the site is genuine and can get really upset. After all, the best kind of humour is the kind that knows when to draw a line where people, even those on the AS spectrum, can differentiate. After all, we have our own Off The Wall forum on here, and the tone there is noticeably different to the more serious forums.

People like that have no idea what they're talking about, and I highly doubt the loyalty to Jesus of anyone who behaves that way while associating themselves with Him. That website seems more like a gathering for modern-day Pharisees, not examples of Christ. Its people like that who blow up abortion clinics and carry hateful signs at the funerals of homosexual soldiers. I don't agree with either of those activities, but the kind of behavior on that site only increases the already negative perception genuine Christ followers are slammed with.

Okay, I was about to rage before I read that the site was a parody. I've heard awful things from Christian extremists before, so I really could not tell whether it was trolling or truly insane ignorance. Phew...I'm so glad it's not real. If it really is a joke. God, it'd BETTER be a joke.

What makes anyone think this is a JOKE? Try substituting "black" or "gay" - Would members of either of those minorities say, "It's a parody, so it's okay!" Are you kidding?

Yes, I've come across this site before, and yes, it is a parody. Some of those jokes were in particularly poor taste, and it's certainly nowhere I'd like to spend my time, but they are at least not sincere.

If you doubt that it's meant in jest, remember that difficulty detecting sarcasm is a part of Autism.

It's a parody. I was even a member there on it for a while. You can choose what character you want to be. An over the top, insane Bible misinterpreting "Christian" (of the Westover Baptist Church variety) or a skeptic or even just another type of Christian who wants to argue with them. You basically stay in character all the time but you can send and receive personal messages out of character occasionally with other members. The thing is, if you are one of the "Christians" your post should in some way show the flaws of what you are championing.

I am Christian but I don't hate anyone. Those types you described give us a bad name. A true Christian hates nobody. We are supposed to be like Jesus Christ himself, who didn't hate anyone. I am sorry there are so many hypocrites out there. Also, I am an NT engaged to an awesome Aspie! I try to raise my son to love everyone and not worry about whether someone is Autistic, gay, transgender, etc. I don't care what people are, its none of anyone's business on who they are or want to be.
