The Star Trek star Kate Mulgrew narrates a new film called "the Principle".

The film informs us that "everything you know about the universe is wrong", and that "Galileo got it wrong" and that.... the Sun revolves around the Earth!

Well Im sure glad that somebody is finnally set us all straight after four hundred years!

The film was financed by the contraversial right wing antisemite named Robert Sungenis.

What next?

Are they gonna hire Leonard Nimoy to tell us that the Earth is flat, or hire the guy who plays "House" to tell us that germs dont cause disease (that its all evil spirits)?

Ive seen a trailer for it online. It's pretty slick in a crazy way.

I made the mistake of reading some comments on it. Some christians just do not want to give up on the geocentric stuff. They want the bible to be literally true in every way and they get so excited.

Thanks. I jotted it down quickly when I read it on the link from AA's thread about fuel from seawater- this was another story in the same online magazine.

You all can read the story from that thread. Im bad at posting links.

Now... does she actually believe this idiocy? Or is she only spouting it because she's being paid to?

I'm sure she was paid to say whatever as the narrator. The clip is full of scientists but they are likely just quote mining their statements. Something creationists often do. The physicist Lawrence Krauss is in there too and he says he has no idea how he wound up on the show. It's either public domain stuff or they bought the rights of clips from other production companies and edited them.

Kate Mulgrew also says that she was tricked into lending her voice for this crapumentary:

Thank goodness for that. When I first heard this, I was pretty shocked that the actress who played Captain Janeway would support geocentrism.

That could just be PR spin, but I'm not sure how some things work in Hollywood.

You take the gig for the money, but you might not know what you are getting into until you show up, and if you signed a contract, getting out over a disagreement on what the end product represents might be too costly to fight over.

It's not like showing up to be a movie extra and finding out then that it's a porno movie when they told you it was a sci-fi or action movie when they hired you.

The 'sun' is nothing more than a tennis ball someone whacked into orbit and caught fire. But don't blame Mulagrew. Downsizing caused a surplus of Starship captains, and a person has to eat.

She is an actress and it is just a job for her. I rather doubt she really believes this nonsense.

OK, that makes more sense. Roddenberry forgive me for ever doubting her.

I can't wait for the Mulgrew and George Takei debate. Where do I buy a ticket for it?

Bread and Circuses for fools who refute empirical data.

It is reassuring that it was done by an individual rather than an organisation. One nutjob is enough let alone an organisation dedicated to such nonsense. Do people really believe these cranks?

I guess that can only be answered by the amount of DVD rentals and sales.
