As much as I'm not a fan of Islam, I'm still a big believer in religious freedoms and am against discrimination, so people should be free to practice Islam (peacefully, of course) and not have to wear green crescents on their clothing.

The one positive I can say about Muslims, from my own experience in a small community, is that other than their outward dress/attire, the homes they live in do not seem to distinguish themselves from anyone else. They seem to try to fit in. Hispanics, Muslims, Asians, Serbs, Burmese, even African Americans, from the outside, their homes basically all look the same. Nothing to distinguish their beliefs or identity. It is only Caucasian Christians who feel the need to distinguish themselves from everyone else with displays of their religion adorning the exterior of their homes.

I'm dissapointed in you Raptor. No dedication at all. I thought you'd be the one leading the dawn raids, kicking down doors.
Clearly you're becoming too left wing. Next you'll be strumming an acoustic guitar, smoking pot and burning old glory.

Personally, I'd just as soon the stayed in Islamic countries or at least outside the US.
However, there's this freedom of religion thingy I feel compelled to abide by, whether I personally like it or not.
That's about as "liberal" as I get on a good day.

I bet the Native Americans wished the Christian barbarians went back to their home country.

Most Native Americans are Christian today.

I'm just going to leave this right here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadian_I ... ool_system Keep in mind, even though this article is Canada-centered, I'm fairly certain that there were residential schools in the US as well, where they attempted to assimilate Native American children into white, Christian culture, often using abusive, inhumane methods.

Obvious flame-bait is obvious...

Is anyone actually proposing such a thing, or even anything resembling such a thing?

The yellow badge was introduced by the caliph of Baghdad in the 9th century, and then spread to medieval Europe in the centuries after that. There wasn't just badges for Jews but for other groups - like Christians - also.

They are scary and intolerant.

The punishment for leaving islam is death or harassment. Also it is unbelievably sexist

Can't believe just how Islamophobic this thread has become. Why don't we take this to its logical conclusion:
Bin Laden was a Muslim. He killed thousands of people. Muslims are also "scary" and "intolerant" Therefore, we must discriminate against Muslims … ?
Stalin, Pol Pot and Mao Zedong were atheists. They were responsible for millions of deaths. Atheists are also godless nihilists. Therefore, we must discriminate against atheists … ?
Adolf Hitler was a Christian. Christians have also been known to be sexist and homophobic. Therefore, we should discriminate against Christians … ?
The KKK are white Americans. They are racist extremists. George Bush II WAS also a white American. He is responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths. Americans live a decadent, bourgeois lifestyle. This thread itself could be used to show the intolerance of certain white Americans. Therefore, we should discriminate against white Americans … ?
Hitler was a nature lover. And anyway, they're all pot-smoking hippies and eco-terrorists who hate mankind. Therefore, we should discriminate against environmentalists … ?
The British National Party (BNP) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_National_Party) are British. The British Empire was responsible for great atrocities. Anyway, we're stuffy, emotionally repressed and pedantic. Therefore, we British should be discriminated against ... ?
Emos have been driven to suicide, supposedly as a result of their subculture. They are whiney, angsty teenagers with an awful taste in music. Therefore, we should discriminate against emos … ?
The list could go on. Just because some members of a group are homicidal nutters, and there are certain stereotypes about that group (which may be true in some cases, but not all), does not mean the whole group is intrinsically "bad" and should face discrimination (which would change little and damage society).

While it is acceptable to attack and debate beliefs (political, religious etc) it is not acceptable to make generalised attacks on the adherents of those beliefs. It is acceptable to say that Republicanism, Liberalism, Christianity, Islam are stupid but not acceptable to make generalised attacks saying that Republicans, Liberals, Christians or Muslims are morons. You could say that some of these people are stupid because of (reason) but not make generalised attacks on groups of people. Similarly you could not say "Christians are morons" or "Muslims are terrorists" or "People on welfare are bums". Confine your attacks to the beliefs and politics, not the people holding them. The one exception to this is public figures themselves – by the very nature of their roles they are personally open to criticism.
