Why are you here? My parents had sex.
When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): misdiagnosed as mildly Autistic at 4; properly diagnosed as sanely AS at 50.
Favorite subjects: Anthropology, Linguistics, History.
Year/Grade: Years ago.
Favorite music: Zappa, Stravinsky, Beethoven, etc (all those heavy dudes). Fats Waller, George Formby, Tiny Tim.
Books: Virgil, Dante, Gibbon, Whitman, Joyce.
TV shows/Movies: McHale's Navy.
Instrument: Uke, Harmonica, Kazoo, Washboard.
Do you like sports? I regard riding my bike through the forest alone as the only legitimate sport. (I also like going to the football and watching the responses of the NTs in the crowd).
Family: Parents deceased, three adult children, wife is bi-polar.
Clothing: Loose, minimal, logo-less, earthy browns and greens.
How did you find this website? It seems alright so far.

Plans for the future? To ditch some of strategies I've used to negotiate the NT world and be myself.

Why are you here? Not sure, my symptoms/traits include hyperlexia, sensory overload, social anxiety, ocd, I could go on...
When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): I self diagnosed as being somewhere on the spectrum earlier this week
Favorite subjects: English, Spanish, Art History
Year/Grade: I teach all ages!
Favorite music: Debussy, Scriabin, Meredith Monk, acoustic noise improvisation
Books: Right now I'm reading "Wait until Spring, Bandini" by John Fante. I love the title!

Instrument: Oh gosh, piano mostly, also accordion, violin, viola, banjo, guitar and singing. No winds, although I love the sound of the clarinet!

Family: I love my family! my brother is also self diagnosed, we have discussed it and probably so is my uncle, but not my other brother.
Clothing: Monochrome dress with matching leggings is my favorite, or if someone gives me something i like to wear it everyday if I can get away with it.

Why are you here? My 8 year old grandson was diagnosed with AS in July. No one told us anything, just that he had AS. No help offered. He's been misdiagnosed for 6 years and things have been getting worse with him. We're looking for answers.

Hobbies and Interests: Sporadic and ill-defined. I like to cook, have an interest in computing and computers and the web, in general. I also like to fish, but rarely get the chance.Oh, also camping, hiking, that sort of thing.
Why are you here? It has been suggested (primarily by my wife) that I am very likely AS, albeit undiagnosed as of yet. I need help and this may well be a solid resource. I don't know yet.
When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): Yet to be diganosed. How do I go about that exactly?
Favorite subjects: Geography, economics, me.
Year/Grade: I have a B.S. in Geography (GIS/RS/Cartography) with a minor in Mathematics. That's about it.
Favorite music: Both kinds *grin*. I like just about all music, but I am particularly fond of Texana, New Orleans groove, folk, various Brazilian genres (esp. Bossa nova, forró, samba, choro, and sertanejo), Lounge. what is now labeled as 'Americana'. and, I guess, 'World Music'.
Books: Heart of Darkness, Sometimes a Great Notion, Life on the Mississippi, A Confederacy of Dunces, Catch-22, Any Vonnegut, Any Saroyan, Any Steinbeck

Plans for the future? Wow, that's a biggie. Uhh, lately I am trying to focus on living one day at a time, etc.
