I have a few types of synesthesia, including grapheme-color and grapheme-personality.

Due to my synesthesia, there are some letters, numbers, and days of the week I like better than others because of their colors and personalities.

My favorite letter of the alphabet is R.
-R is female, deep red, reticent, and very wise and mature.

My favorite digit is 9.
-9 is male, black, slightly mysterious, and while he is quite mature and usually a bit more reserved than most of the numbers, he occasionally jokes around with 7.

My least favorite letters are probably N and T. (I promise this has nothing to do with neurotypicals...I just made that connection.)
-N is male, obnoxious, and I can't pinpoint his exact color, because I thought he was brown, but sometimes he's more on the black side. Picture a kid with his hat backwards shooting spitballs on the bus. N is like an older version of that kid. I think N used to be more obnoxious when I was younger, but has matured a little. His best friend has always been M, who also used to be a little immature, but has matured greatly and is very pleasant these days. (I suppose even graphemes experience puberty? :o )
-T is male, dark green, and I guess he just has a bad personality. Kind of your overconfident, arrogant guy type, I suppose.

My least favorite digits are 3, 5, and 8.
-3 is a tomboy female and red, not quite like R, but still a tad bit on the dark side. 3 is a bit obnoxious, and she's always arguing with 5.
-5 is male, bright red (lighter than 3), and basically the number equivalent of the letter N. He definitely would fit the spit-balling kid image. There is also a parallel between N and M's relationship and that of 5 and 6's; 6 used to be immature like 5, but he's definitely grown up and become quite amiable. They're still best friends.
-8 is female, bright purple, and bossy. 7 is always trolling her (sometimes with the help of 9) and she overreacts by yelling and getting all angry. I also picture her as being overweight because of the shape of the number.

I don't really like any days of the week in particular, but Wednesday is a nice cool cerulean color. I tend to wear blue a lot on Wednesday because of this. I don't like Thursday because his personality is a bit like T's, and he's sort of a mixture of orange and brown.

Male to female ratios-

Alphabet- 13:13 (Though in the past I've come up with 14:12 because Y looked very masculine, but I believe she's a girl)
Digits zero through nine- 6:4
Days- 4:3

That was just my rambling about synesthesia. Feel free to ramble about your own.

Wow, ReticentJaeger, your synasthesia is much more detailed than mine. As I have written elsewhere, mine includes only seeing and hearing mentally the word ?blue? when writing or reading the number ?2,? the lower-case letters ?b? and ?d,? and the upper-case letter ?L.? Also, the reverse is true with me, too (seeing and hearing mentally the words "two" and the letters "B," "D" and "L" when writing or reading the word ?blue?).

That post actually inspired this one. XD

i had this sort of thing when i was a kid and number personifications always sort of stuck with me. i don't think i necessarily have synesthesia, though. if i do, it sort of went away as i grew older, or it's just really mild since i only personify numbers up to 12.

1 i tend to think as either a baby, or as the leader of the group. not necessarily the oldest, but agreed to be the leader. 2 is feminine and small and shy, a soft baby yellowish color. 3 is a toddler boy and orange, looks up to 5. 4 is mature and feminine, a dark reddish purple/maroon color, plain-faced but beautiful in a vampy way. i always associate 5 with bright primary red, and he's a boyish, outdoorsy, rough-and-tumble kindergartner, like everyone's kid brother. 6 is quiet and sly, doesn't really have a set gender, and switches between being male/female/genderless. i don't like 7, it makes me uncomfortable, all i get from him is 'pointy and black.' 8 and 9 are really close teenage siblings, a girl and a boy respectively, i associate them with the planets uranus and neptune. 10 is a pure white and gives guidance to everyone, sort of an androgynous/genderless but vaguely male figure, he can be bossy but in a nice way. nobody cares about 11, i don't care about 11, but i get a grayish vibe from him. 12 is sort of the bossy and naggy sporty older sibling and switches between being a boy and a tomboyish girl to me.

13 makes me uncomfortable so i don't really have specific personifications for numbers after that, but generally even numbers are feminine and odd numbers are masculine. even multiples of 3 and numbers ending in 0 are different, though, usually they're genderless or switch genders. i think of multiples of 5 (save 5 and 10) as being a big group of middle aged rich businessmen and politicians who invest in the stock market and laugh about how much money they have.

also i love attack on titan! i need to catch up on the new chapters.

Poor eleven!

For me, digits 0-9 have their own personalities, but after then every other number is a combination of colors depending on what numbers make it up. The gender is strange?there's no set rule to that. You might figure that numbers with beginning with a male digit would be male, but 12, 13, 14, and 18 are all female because they end in a female number. But then in the 20s 21, 25, 26, 27, and 29 all appear masculine. I think the further I go, the numbers' genders become separate?I want to believe that 64 is a motherly woman, but if I pay more attention to the '6', I see her at a more masculine angle.

You're doing better than me, Reticent. I have no synesthesia whatsoever.

Do you ever incorporate your synesthesia into your writing. Perhaps you could write children's stories making use of it.

I think writing children's books would be even worse than being a full-time editor. :?

Lately I've thought about writing my numbers into actual characters and then giving them names that match their colors. But the naming is the hard part?it's nearly impossible to find names that are all one color. 'Kae' is all yellow like 4, but I don't know if I like it. I've actually met a 'Kristin' whose personality was very much like 4's, though. Maybe if I spelled it 'Kristen' it would have enough to yellow letters to suffice.

I think it would be kind of fun to write about my numbers, though, since they have such detailed personalities. I could look forward to writing about 7 and 8's strained relationship. 'F' and 'G' have a relationship like that also; F is male and likes to mess with G, who is also female (and annoying) gets ticked off. Though I find both F and G obnoxious.

Wow, It's kind of weird to see which ones are male and female for you because mine are sometimes different.

Male: B, D, E, F, H, I, J, P, R, T, V, W, X, Y, Z, 0, 1, 4, 5, 6, 7 ,8, Tue., Wed., Fri.

Female: A, C, G, K, L, M, N, O, Q, S, U, 2, 3, 9, Sun., Mon., Thu., Sat.

I wish I saw things in different colors. Everything for me is just varying shades of white, gray, and black.

Andddd, I forgot months.

Their colors and personalities are probably just related to the letters in their names more often than not, but their genders are:

Male:
January, February, March, June, July, October, November, December
Female:
April, May, August, September

M/F=8:4

What I have isn't colored letters, numbers, or anything else; nor is it personalities. What I have is shapes, often in tune with feelings, and numbers, to express my own "sprinkling of Synesthesia". I've never seen what I experience mentioned anywhere, not even here, so can't help but wonder if there's a name for it?

I know that's a form of synesthesia. There are lots and lots of forms of it. Daniel Tammet (an autistic savant) sees shapes.

Egad....and you're pretty too! LOL.

I don't have "any"-thesia! All I am is an average schmuck Aspie LOL

Synesthesia is really cool--and I wish I had it--great material for poetry!

The numbers I view almost with the connotations they were given in Chinese, but not really, considering the numbers 4 and I think 7 are treated like the way Europeans treat 13.

I don't think I have synthesia but when I wonder about it I get something like this:
A, B, C, E, F, I, J, K, O, Q, T, U, X, Y, 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 Female
D, G, H, L, M, N, P, R, S, V, W, Z, 2, 8, 9, 0 Male

My favorite letters are E and R:
E - yellow (almost orange), female, tolerant, smart, clear
R - dark red, male, expressive, confident, bossy, sharp
They make a great team together. E makes R less sharp.

My least favorite letters are O and L:
O - pinkish brown, female, huge, plain, boring, slime
L - greenish brown, male, rude, swallow, tasteless, sharp
Seeing them together makes me uncomfortable. As looking at something ugly.

My favorite numbers are 4 and 7:
7 similar to E but lighter color, the same shade of yellow/orange but ligher.
4 similar to R but female and more vivid red
Together they make a fun pair, like 2 smiling girls on a playground.

My least favorite numbers are 1 and 2.
The pair (female and male, white and blue) are selfish, adults, rule bound, rough
They are like a pair of police officers or something.
