What's sickening is that a child can be tried by the state for a victimless "crime".

Is violating a statue violating any statutes?

Sorry, don't understand how this is desecration. Was the statue damaged in any way? It's still a statue of Jesus. People won't respect it any less because some dumb kid decided to hump it. There are some Christians who would be offended by the idolatry of the statue itself.

That kid has the right attitude, but he should have concealed his identity and posted the pictures anonymously. That he did not think to do so, is the disturbing aspect of this story.

I bet Jesus initiated the act, and now they're trying to pin the blame on the underage victim. Disgusting.

I just found it offensive. I have also seen photos of western tourists in Thailand twerking Buddha statues in sacred temples while wearing bikinis, which really pissed me off. Even though I am not a Christian I don't like seeing disrespect like this.

Same (I'm a Catholic though). Disrespecting any religious statues or artifacts is offensive beyond belief to me.

So, be offended then. You don't have a right to not be offended.

By the way I think the pic is awesome. Someone suggested bringing a plank of plywood with a hole in it and making a Jesus glory hole pic. That would be priceless!

Real desecration would be damaging the statue in any way, that would be wrong, it's someone's property.

^This. While very disrespectful, no actual harm was done.
