i agree that there are too many people. they chew up enormous swathes of nature and impose their will on all other forms of life who have just as much fundamental right to live.
humans are mainly greedy and shallow minded, and they have a sense of entitlement and superiority that insults my sensibilities.

but i will live for at most another 50 years, and in that time, i do not expect to be swamped by them. as long as i can live in an area that is not overpopulated and will never be overpopulated in my lifetime, i am relatively complacent.

i did not answer the poll.

Overpopulation is a myth and an evil one at that, birthrates in the west are actually too low and are already threatening the future of our welfare systems. The global fertility rate is only 2.47 with a replacement level of 2.33, globally we will be below replacement level very soon and will peak out at 8-9 billion before shrinking for the first time since the plague in the 14th century. Poverty and hunger aren't caused by overpopulation, there are plenty of resources to support way more than 9 billion people, the problem are these resources being mismanaged and exploited

Venture forth to South America, India, S Korea. Don't l;ook only at the United States. If you think India and Mexico and the rest of S. America is not over populated, please go live there a while and taste reality. You are right though that overpopulation does not cause poverty and hunger. It is the other way around. Poor, hungry people turn to each other for comfort, sexually. That is a reality.

There are a lot of places on Earth that have very low population density or are uninhabited. I'm sure not all of those places are unlivable.
A lot of people choose to live in or near cities though.

I selected Ice Age. Freezing is the most humane way. The Ice will kill most humans off but will give the survivors a chance of evolving into something good without destroying everything in the process.

If God messed around with human DNA so that human's could give birth too a variety of animals, then humans would be more reluctant to kill them. A mother who gave birth to a cow instead of a baby, would not eat a cow. Nor would she eat a fish if a fish was her baby. This is just an idea. I am completely on board with splicing human and animal DNA to create hybrid species in whatever form that happens.

You left out the correct answer in your poll!

Here is Revelation 13 verse 15
Then another angel came out of the temple and called in a loud voice to him who was sitting on the cloud, "Take your sickle and reap, because the time to reap has come, for the harvest of the earth is ripe."

Just like a field of wheat that is so full, you cannot see anything else, the Earth is now full of people, its harvest time folk's
Very soon the Grim Reaper is going to start his reaping.
The good stuff will be kept, the rotten stuff thrown on the fire.

The world wont be overpopulated when all the wobbers and wapists have been removed.

A) you crack open a Bible - and then hallucinate text on the page that isnt there. That passage talks about taking ripe wheat- doesnt say a thing about getting rid of chaff (or anything 'rotten'). You're projecting vast narrative into the passage that isn't there.

B) You then use this nonexistent text to justify - I don't know what- but it sounds like mass murder.

C) Your program of mass murder wouldnt even make a dent in the problem its supposed to solve.

Get rid of all Wobbers and wapists?

By that I assume you mean "apply the death penalty to all felons".

The nation with the biggest prison/jail population is the USA.
So if the US government decided tomorrow to sumarily execute its whole prison population (in a holocaust of more than two millon deaths) that would eliminate three quarters of one percent of the US population. The USA grows in population by about one-and-a-half percent a year. So that holocaust would make up for only six months of US population growth! It would make no dent, in the world's, nor even a lasting dimple in the USA's population size.

So how is this the "correct answer"?

Jesus explains the harvest at the end of the age elsewhere in the Bible:-

36 Then he left the crowd and went into the house. His disciples came to him and said, ?Explain to us the parable of the weeds in the field.?

37 He answered, ?The one who sowed the good seed is the Son of Man. 38 The field is the world, and the good seed stands for the people of the kingdom. The weeds are the people of the evil one, 39 and the enemy who sows them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels.

40 ?As the weeds are pulled up and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the age. 41 The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. 42 They will throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 43 Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Whoever has ears, let them hear.

Though of course you are correct regarding numbers, rather more than robbers and rapists will be gone.

You forgot to put an "Ebola" option in the poll.

First of all, ask this question in the Parents Discussion. Believe me, you will get a screenful! I asked under "why so many kids"?

I didn't answer the poll, because I think it is very simple to control population: Use a condom, pop a pill, keep it in your pants, What's so hard about that?

None of the above. Legalise gay marriage everywhere, and approve of all sex acts that do not lead to procreation of the human species. Offer free vasectomy/tubectoy plans, or better yet make it mandatory for all. --Wanna marry a Donkey or a German Shepherd? Disgusting, but hey, no children so it's okay.

Want to have children? Fine, but you have to pay a procreation tax of $250K, plus medical expenses to reverse veasectomies/tubal ligation, per child. This goes for everybody whether you're in a an affluent area of the world, or a shanty town in Nigeria. --End result, global population drops.

I would add Outbreak (1995) but it doesn't let you add things to polls.
