The Freedom Socialist Party advocates:
- $20 a minimum per hour pay, and
- union membership

However, 'Reason'.com website found that they advertise a web content manager job for $13/hr and non-union. They are taking some flack for saying that Americans should do as they say, not as they do. 'Reason' points out that $13/hr appears to be vastly underpay for the position in Seattle; it is even lower than Seattle's soon $15/hr minimum wage.

Should we fault them for only paying their workers what they think they are worth when they advocate the opposite?

Of course not, because under socialism they would be able to afford paying more. Just look to Cuba.

Socialists are hypocrites.

In the Occupy Wall Street movement, the top 1% of people took charge, lived in the better part of the campsite, enjoyed the perks.

Simple fact...eliminate the top 1% and a new group will become the new 1%...often with the same mentality of what you just got rid of.

I knew college professors who were Marxists, but they'd not champion the custodians being paid or compensated as well as they were because they were "better" than them....entirely contrary to the philosophy of Marxism. Without the janitorial staff, the school would close just as certainly as it would without the professors.

I'm kind of surprised some of our liberals haven't put their two cents worth in here.
But then again they tend to fall back on silent consent whenever something like this comes up.
$20 per hour as a minimum wage.
As consumers they'll be the first to b***h about the resultant higher costs. The left is all about spending money as long as it's not theirs.

$20 is comfortably above the living wage in Seattle. Heck, it is 50% more than the living wage in London! It seems an arbitrary large number rather than something that's necessarily going to help people.

In both America and Britain, the minimum wage needs to come up and the evidence shows no effect on employment as a result of modest job increases. If you make it too high then the market is going to re-adjust.

I will concede that classical Marxist theory has huge holes in it but because when one obscure socialist party says one thing and does another, it is representative of socialists everywhere and indicting against all socialist theory ever?

Huh.

Way back when, when I lived at a previous address a long way from here I helped an election campaign for a socialist representative who was willing to take a pay cut compared to what he would have recieved if elected, compared to other members of parliament.

Well the other argument is that if you give all workers on the minimum wage a pay rise on 'ideological'/human decency grounds then all of the other skilled workers will start complaining and arbitrarilly want pay rises too. Though i think thats a pretty cynical talking point; i doubt that most people who earn what you could class 'significantly above the minimum wage' are that money driven because they already make enough to live comfortably.

This.

In this country, if i wanted to take the words or deeds of select conservative politicians I could by the same logic, tar all conservatives as lascivious sexual perverts.

Isn't that what you do already?

I don't see the hypocrisy. One presumes that being part of a good cause is at least partial compensation.

It is hypocrisy.
By not following their own doctrine it, in effect, proves them to be BS.

Apples to oranges. An activist job is not the same as a fast food job. A person may want to volunteer for free to help the socialist cause, but needs a certain minimum to survive. This may be acceptable if you really believe in socialism.

I know this makes a nice sound bite, but it's more complex than it appears.

They all have an admirable time of it when they receive zealous homage. Just observe the nation that is defended by devoted patriots. The patriots fall in bloody battle or in the fight with hunger and want; what does the nation care for that? By the manure of their corpses the nation comes to "its bloom"! The individuals have died "for the great cause of the nation," and the nation sends some words of thanks after them and - has the profit of it. I call that a paying kind of egoism.
