I'm Ishtara or Ish online, and a longer and more confusing string of names in real life. If you Google 'Ishtara', you'll find the name is also claimed by a bellydancer, a sex therapist, and a peach rootstock (and I'd like to reassure you I'm none of those).
I'm 26 years old and I work in IT whilst studying criminology part-time. Most of my interests revolve around medieval history and the Society for Creative Anachronisms, through which I met my partner. He understood me and my quirks before I learnt they had a name, and ours is a very happy and peaceful household. We read, grow vegetables, and play a lot of computer games. |

My name is Neil. I'm short, weigh too much, and eat mo' chicken any man ever seen. I am an audiophile, read many books, and enjoy screaming like an idiot with my Death Metal band. I've held a great deal of jobs, and currently am both a metal fabricator and a Tattoo artist, profession-wise.
I have a five-year-old son who is undiagnosed Aspergers or Hyperlexia... We're not sure... But he's on a waiting list at Seattle Children's Hospital for an AS evaluation. I also have a painfully acute memory, and everything- EVERYTHING- that my son is doing, I can recall doing at his same age. He's quite brilliant, but not socially active at all.
Many days, I feel like my head is going to explode.
I look forward to talking to youse mugs, and only hope that the 'no swearing' restriction in the rules will not be a problem for me, as I add filthy words to my writing like a chef incorporates the finest spices to add flavor to a dish. |

|
|
I'm new here, so I guess I suppose to introduce myself.
When it comes to different to categorize people by their nationality, religion, occupation, gender or neurological anomalities, it feels a bit awkward to me because I see them artificial. I'm not going to tell the whole story about my nickname, but in a nutshell, Zeroness refers to semiotic theories of Charles S. Peirce about perception of reality and in my mind it has combined with the Buddhist idea of "non-excistence of me". On other words, it often feels difficult for me to choose which labels to tell first about me because I find them all equally artificial to tell about anything real about myself. In addition, I also love paradoxes and by telling all this I labelled myself with these ideas, with these theories which indeed, is also a paradox.
By those common labels I am Finnish from my nationality, my favourite religion is Discordianism, occupation is graphic designer (or some sort of illusionist which might be fall more into to the category of artist than traditional magician), gender is male and what comes to neurological anomalities, asperger syndrome seems to explain pretty well many of my interests, unsocial behauviour and overally strange childhood as I was no like other kids on the neighbourhood.
Please to meet you all, be seeing you.

Hi, I'm Chris, and I just joined this place. I stumbled upon this place one night randomly googling. I thought this place looked like a pretty neat place.
I really like music as my username sort of suggests. I've often been labled as weird, quiet, and rude so far. It doesn't bother me much either so you can call me weird too.
I've found, lots of loud noises like public places really bothers me and confuses me very much(but organized loud things like music are very soothing), sometimes it just angers me and makes me really tense. I've talked to my folks before about actually getting my diagnosed but that's as far as it got. I've researched endlessly into autism, aspergers, and OCD. It seems the strongest one that I seems to hit the most closest to me is aspergers. So yeah.
So, onto my interests. I have been self teaching myself pro audio since I was in 6th grade. I now serve in my churches youth ministry as their unofficial audio/video production manager since that age. I have occasionally worked with the Sunday morning services as well. I am very anal about how certain things should sound and if people are fiddling with my mixer while I'm mixing. I really like computers of all sorts, Mac, Windows, Linux, BeOS. You name it, I like it. I may not have a computer that runs BeOS but I still am very interested in it, and yes I've heard of the recent update called Haiku.
So yeah, that's me. So much for a small intro. _________________ (\_/)

First of all, to those who are new here, welcome to the greatest forum for Aspies in the world.
Then more on myself...
I came here initially to have fun..
I am now living in Singapore and I'd lived here for like for as long as I remember. However, I would want to travel all around the world, from the rich swanky malls of Beijing to the crumbling ghettos of Detroit, MI (home to my beloved Lions and Tigers)...
I do not believe in organised religion, because I was never patient nor calm enough to listen to any word on the things and ideas that I don't understand. I prefer to explore spirituality on my own... I'd already ruled out atheism as it cannot fully explain the presence of order on Earth. I'd ruled out a few religions as well as I fail to understand 'reincarnation' (Buddhism especially). So yeah I am still searching for some inner peace.
And I'm a walking contradiction. I hit people with brute force but I sometimes also reason. I watch sports for a darn long time with fervor but I am bad in sports. Most importantly, I write little but always think so much, my head is going to explode... ARGH... _________________ Ex amicitia vita |

Well, hello everyone, my name is Sean. Was born in KC, MO (10/03/1980) and live in NC (some miles west of Raleigh). Ive lived in this state since 1986 and am the oldest of 3 brothers (the other 2 are NT as far as we can tell). Like everyone else, I had the hard, solitary life of one in the ASD (apparently i had autistic traits growing up, but there was little delay in much else). Did well in school, academically of course, but not socially (math and science being my strong points). My brothers and i got along fairly well (as in we didnt beat the crap outta each other all the times . . . unless it was in a game ).
Personal interests pretty much boil down to sci-fi/fantasy genre entertainment, and science/math interests (though only on random topics, from exoskeletons to railguns). Battletech, Exo-Squad, Robotech, and other various mech oriented concepts have piqued my interests for as long as i can remember. I'll also surf the net for more tech info and consider how it could be applied or modified for the hell of it.
As far as education, completed High School, got my AA in General Arts, AS in Biotechnology, and 70+ hours towards a BS in Electrical Engineering (had to drop out for financial and personal reasons). Oddly, with my continuous shift in interests, i could never really focus on one thing as a profession (save the general field). Not sure i can say much more since a lot has been stated by others here already.
With respect to personality, Im typically easy going and avoid stress at all costs (stress tires me out seeing as how i try to shut down before having a meltdown). I do what i can to not worry, but certain things will upset me (like my parents getting on my case to keep up job hunting when i cannot for the love of me focus on something that doesnt give me a mental high). My games, books, or favorite shows are the only things that give me some relief . . . but i absolutely HATE/DESPISE/LOATHE/REVILE being forced to do something, especially if there isnt some mental gratification from doing it. _________________ "Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe."

It's not the length of the journey, it's how you enjoyed it. I am glad you are versatile in General Arts and Biotechnology, which is kind of like an unique fushion that I appreciate. _________________ Ex amicitia vita |

| I'm too shy to make a whole new thread about myself, so I guess I'll just write here. My name is Goren - that's the name I chose for myself and I prefer it over anything written in my passport or any other official paper. I was born 16/10/1982 in a city called Leningrad in a country called Soviet Union - thankfully, neither of those exists anymore. I was diagnosed with Aspergers in the age of 12, but no action was taken, mostly due to the fact that my parents and me didn't want to have a stigma of 'mental decease'. I went to normal school, then the university, graduating with major in Behavioural Biology. In 2007 I had to leave Russia because of political repression and ended up in Auckland, New Zealand, where I was formally studying in UOA, but basically led the life of a hikikomori, suffering from social isolation and spontaneous depression. I got out of it earlier this year, starting a new study program for a joint degree in Maths and CS. Now I am mostly feeling better, but I still didn't find any friends in New Zealand. I thought that maybe communicating with aspie community would help me to better connect socially. |
