Hello;
Well, maybe the title sounds more attention seeking then I expected it to be...
My mother used to always interrupt my non stop mile a minute conversations about what she regarded as nonsense by saying "Earth Calling Amanda... Is anyone home?"
Tell me if that does not wrap up my self diagnosis without any other explanation of the nature of my Aspbergers...
Well, in addition to the non stop verbal diarrheaI suffered from as a child, I fit the "Aspberger" profile perfectly in everyway. I feel on this site, like I am surrounded for the first time in my life, with people just like me. It is strange, very very strange!
It is amazing the stages you go through, one moment you are hearing about Aspbergers, seeing it in your child, the next you are identifying it with yourself, saying "gee, maybe I am a little this way too"... Then it hits you, No, I am a LOT like this! I am not a little Aspberger... I am a LOT Aspberger!" And at that moment, life smacks you with something you want to run from as fast as you can and hide under your bed from, but at the same time you are attracted to like a bug is to a light in the night!
Well, I don't have time to wallow in it, or overanalyse it I suppose, my son, a very newly diagnosed Aspie needs me now. That in itself, is all consuming and a little overwhelming.
Anyway, that is my "hello". In typical fashion for me, I seem to suffer from an inability to just say "hi" without wearing my life on my sleeve... Is that Ok? |

That's fine. I struggle to make a post without running on about irrelevant things for ages, slowly moving further away from the topic until my ramblings bear no relation whatsoever to what the topic itself was about. But anyway, welcome. |

Is this an adult form of talking non stop? Only in a written form? I swear, in dealing wth my son, I have spent 100's of hours "writing letters" that I know the recipients don't want to read. Mostly because I feel I cannot verbally communicate all my thoughts but have a burning desire to express "it all".

I guess so. I add things into my posts that I know are not relevant. I know they probably mean very little to anyone else, but I just can't find an outlet to express myself, so I just have to throw it all out there at once.
Back in high school, because I was so shy, I would go the entire day without saying anything to anyone. Back home, I used to visit a forum where I'd just let it all out, I racked up an impressive 11,000 posts in a matter of two years. Many of which were very long and drawn out. Out of the thousands of members, I had the highest post count by far. I spent entire days there, because I had so much to let out and that was the only way I could do it. All the years I'd spent without an internet connection, I had no way or getting it out, so I had been building it up over all those years. Nowadays I've got much less to say, but sometimes I type out posts just out of habit, even when I've got nothing to say. |

| Interesting... I racked up over 3000 posts about Guinea Pigs in about a 7 month period on two forums. I agree, it is an outlet. Again, something to consider when dealing with my forum adictions. |

"But I don't want to go among mad people, Alice remarked.
'Oh, you can't help that', said the Cat: 'we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad'.
'How do you know I'm mad?' said Alice.
'You must be' said the Cat 'or you wouldn't have come here'.
Alice didn't think that proved it at all. _________________ I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow. I feel my fate in what I cannot fear. I learn by going where I have to go. ~Theodore Roethke |

Well there are unknown fears, then there is us. We are used to just about everything, because aspie is never consistant. They agree, then each run off on a tangent. Then they agree again.
WP is the only proven therapy, but you have to want to change the rest of the world into aspies.
You will have a lot of fun here. I find under the bed to be undefendable, where a nest in the back of a closet gives real security. |

Hello Amanda,
I am glad that wrong planet has pulled you into it's orbit. Welcome to the WP.
I share your too much or too little self expression thingy.
Can I ask how old you are? I am a 30 year old woman.
How old is your son, is he old enough to appreciate WP?

I am 30 in May.
My eldest Aspie Offspring is 12. I also have two other NT preschoolers, they are 2 and 4.
As for appreciating WP, my son has some real difficulties with reading and typing. I offered to help him, but he runs from anything printed, much more attracted to YouTube and other animated sites.
This place is great... I already love WP, I did the first night I read just 3 posts and did not have time to join! I felt like for the first time in my life, I found people like me! |
