Hi everyone! I just registered. I'm a bit new to this whole posting/forum thing, but I'll try to catch up. I'm 15, (turning 16 in 22 days, hurrah!) and in 10th grade. I've lived in Los Angeles, CA all my life (actually Northridge, to all you natives). My twin brothers (8th grade) were each diagnosed with Asperger's last month. I'd love to talk to any siblings of people with AS (especially those my age).

PM me (if I can figure out how to use it), or better yet, e-mail me at parseltongue89@aol.com.

Enjoy the rest of your three-day weekend! Very Happy

Hi! Welcome to WrongPlanet. Hmmmmm?

Here are some friendly questions for you?

1)...What do you do to currently cope with AS?
2)...What aspects of the symptoms do you have?
3)...Too what degree are your symptoms different
from your brother.
4)...Are you diagnoses?
5)...What are your hobbies and interests?
6)...Perhaps your brother can join you on
WrongPlanet?

Hmmmm? How did you find WrongPlanet?????

Sincerely,
Ghosthunter

In answer to your questions, I apologize, I may not have been clear; I myself don't have AS, my two brothers do. I found WrongPlanet in the days following the news of their diagnoses...I became a bit of a mad woman, searching for everything I could find to read.

As for me, though, I have a slight (a.k.a. MAJOR) Harry Potter obsession (47 days to go for HBP!), play guitar, love the Stones, adore reading, and am addicted to 24.

I've been trying to get my brothers to join WP, we'll see what happens...

Until next time, parseltongue89@aol.com

Hello Anna!
The thing I know for sure is that I am a twin (monozygotic!) but I don't know wether I have Asperger, and noone in my family is diagnosed with AS.
The most Aspie-like in the family are my mother and I.
I have an obsession for HP too! (Can't wait for HBP...)

Hello AnnaLangdon! Welcome to WP! I am 17, but I'll be 18 in a couple of weeks. I am obsessed with Harry Potter also and can't wait until the sixth book. I am now watching the first season of 24 on DVD and I really like it.

I too am a Harry Potter fan. I am glad
you are there for your brothers. Describe
what they do as AS people? It is interesting
to see how a NT percieves those around
them. I am HFA, so I rely upon others to
explain themselves, and a NT who doesn't
experience it from the inside gives a fresh
perspective.

Thanks.

All things considered, my brothers' cases of AS are pretty(ish) mild. They definitely do the "one topic fascination" thing. They used to both be into the same topic at the same time, and they still are to a high degree, but have branched away from each other a little bit. The fun thing is that everytime they latched onto a new subject, my parents and I were drawn in a little, too: I am still able to rattle off facts about the Titanic that I learned from some of the (many, many) books adorning our bookshelves.

I always knew they were a little "out there," even, obviously before they were diagnosed last month. They never did any of the "typical" boy stuff: sports, videogames (until recently, but just for one) etc. For me it was pretty hard, because we're so close in age and went to the same schools, and I wasn't deaf to the comments people made about them (especially when they'd walk around the playground at recess inches apart, with their heads bent together, talking about who-know-what). For the most part though, they were ok, brothers-wise. But, geez, I could tell some major stories.

Off the top of my head, other obvious AS symptoms they've demonstrated include the incredible memorization skills (every single U.S. president in order...and they memorized the state capitals for fun, the same time I had to do them for school--and they were better than me; that hurt Wink ). They also have issues reading body language, etc, which has gotten them into sticky stiuations when people try to explain that they can't possibly bear to hear another fact about the movie Goodfellas.

Erm, I hope that helped answer some of your questions (and that I didn't ramble on(ish).

Woah! When I was younger (about 6-10 years old) the Titanic (the actual ship, not the movie, it was before the movie came out) was the obsession. To this day, it's still probably the biggest one I've ever had. Harry Potter and the Titanic, what a coincidence!
