Here is another one of those face memory tests from Cambridge
I found this one really hard and the results as bad as they looked were at least better
than I expected.
Click on the link below to do the test.

Results
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Out of 72 faces, you correctly identified 34.
In other words, you got 47% correct.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On our previous version of this test, the average person with normal face recognition was able to recognize about 80% of the faces. If you correctly identified less than 65% of the faces, this may indicate face recognition difficulties.
For more information about face blindness and other face recognition difficulties, please go to www.faceblind.org.

The problem here with me is that I look on the face as just another part of the human anatomy like hands or feet. If the same memory test was done with hands and not faces my score would be not all that different . But it would not surprise me if NT's scored much more poorly with memorizing hands than they would with memorizing faces because the NT's brain is usually far better programmed for memorizing faces than autistics with the exception of some autistic savants.

Out of 72 faces, you correctly identified 46.
In other words, you got 64% correct.
The first part (picking one face out of a lineup of 3) was really easy. I had plenty of time to note specific features of the one face I was looking for.
I thought I was completely tanking as soon as the second part started, and I had to rely on my ability to see a whole face as familiar instead of memorizing specific features. I'm surprised I scored as well as I did, given the number of almost wild guesses I was forced to make. |

I don't think this test is at all accurate. I scored a 79% because I have a system for recognizing faces...When I'm meeting people I take note of their features...eyebrows drawn together, buck teeth, flared nose (for example), so that the next time I see someone with those features my brain "recognizes" them as that same person (it sees the features individually and not the face of the whole). So if I see someone apart from the person I originally met with similar features, it takes me a while to distinguish whether or not this is the same person, and by the time I've figured out who it is I've either said hello to someone I don't know or ignored the person I've met before. In the same vein, when I'm trying to picture someone in my head I can only assemble what features I know, so if I never noted what their chin looked like, for example, I'll only be able to imagine a face with only the features I've remembered and not the person's face as a whole. The best way I can remember what someone looks like is by remembering a photo of them. I don't remember what my mom, my dogs, or even I look like...I'll remember, oh, my mom has brown hair and brown eyes and her nose is turned up a little...but when I try to picture her I just can't.
So basically I don't think these sort of tests are all that effective because I knew I was being tested on it so I consciously remembered...ok weird eyes...puffy cheeks...whereas in real life I almost never remember to do that unless I've met the person several times. |

By the time I got about 3 pictures away from the study page, I felt like I was guessing.

I found this quite easy because I don't mind looking closely at a computer face and I'm good at memorising things such as details. The reason I have problems recognising people in everyday life is because I don't like looking at their eyes so I often avoid their faces althogether, at least I don't stare at them for a long time. At least I know I don't have facial recognition problems, just eye contact problems I think. |

89% right
I also tend not to remember peoples faces. I don't understand something though, can normal people visualise the entire face of a peson or do they just look at a specific facial feature which is what I tend to do. I can't visualise someones entire face, just their specific features. I tend to remember peoples noses for some reason |

I did well on the first 3 pics that said `practice`. The rest of the test is flawed, the answer is always 2 and in some pics there are none of the target faces. I don`t know what I scored as the program froze but I bet it was 100% _________________ Any implied social connection is an artifact of the distance between my computer and yours.
