Hi all, long time listener, first time caller =) What to say...I'm 24, listening in the Southern US, and while I have not had an official diagnosis, I feel that AS suites me as a descriptor. I may never get an official diagnosis, unless I just happen to have some extra time and money to blow, but I have to say that of all of the stuff that I've seen on the net, this site has clicked the most for me. It seems to have it's up and downs (like anything), but the ups are pretty good =)

A couple other points about myself (since it is unlikely that I will talk too much about myself again)...I have this that and the other obsession...perhaps the most enduring of these is my love of music (particularly playing and learning how to play) and my love of antiquated electronics. There is just something so wonderful about the musical arts...so much to get lost in, whether it be a song, a style, an instrument, an artist, or what have you. Some of my latest forays are in home recording (so many fun electronics to play with) as well as american folk music (I've been annoying my girlfriend with "Froggie Went a Courtin'" these past couple days, it's such a fun silly song). As for old computer crap, well, those are the kinds of system that one can learn almost every detail about in a reasonable time frame, from the hardware level, to the firmware, to typical and atypical software for it. I've tried hard to stick to microcomputers, but I have one minicomputer, and everytime I see another or part of a mainframe, I just want to snatch it up...it's so hard to fight that urge, but it must be done =)

So anyway, that's something about me, and perhaps I will "see" you guys around (err, I suppose I should say y'all). Thanks for being a generally great group of peoples!

Hi, and welcome!

You've "come on down" to the right place, and "that's my final answer!"

Computers are bound to work at some point!

I hope you enjoy posting here!

Hello, ainvar:

The story I heard is that "Froggy went a-courtin', he did ride" may not be
quite so silly after all. I read a history book once about the Spanish Armada
and related subjects; according to it, "Froggy"(=Frenchman) was Henri, count
of Anjou, and he "went a courtin', he did ride" to try to woo and win
the hand of Elizabeth I of England in marriage. Anyhoo, I've said my piece
for the present, and hope to see from you again.

Danke for the information...I suppose alot of "silly" folk songs are really like that, they only seem silly from a modern day presentation of the music. Nevertheless, I appreciate the info, it's nice to know a little bit more about the music you love =)

Hi, and a "welcome onboard" from another newcomer as well (signed up a few days ago). That thing about ol' computer hardware is something I can relate to -- I have a portable Commodore 64 I doubt I would part with even if that would save my life! Very Happy (Or maybe you're rather referring to refrigerater-sized things jam-packed with descrete transistors?)

Honestly, I love both, but it's hard to find the space for the larger items =) I have an Osborne that I wouldn't part with for anything, and I CoCo 2 that I love (although I'd love a modded CoCo 3 even better!). Oh and I have a fun little Powerbook 170 that has an assortment of useful accoutrements, including a SCSI 10BaseT ethernet adapter, and several still working batteries =)
