Hello everyone! I am a normal fourteen year old girl, I do not have Aspergers, but I am veeery interested in what you all have to say, and I do know a couple of people with it. I've been lurking around for a while, so I thought I might as well register..
BTW, I think there should be an official topic to say 'hello' in, because there are quite a lot of 'hello' threads, and we may as well have just one thread to introduce yourself in, if you know what I mean. (; |

Welcome. Feel free to post here, we usually let in non-Aspies as long as they are civil. We've had to ban a couple of trolls in the past, and i've done my fair share of hexes over the internet, but i don't think you're that kind of person. I'm sure that you'll have fun.

Well, they aren't my BEST friends and I don't talk to them all that often, but they seem fairly normal most of the time.. except I find it odd that they won't look me in the eyes, this one guy has the cutest green eyes but I never get to see them!  |

How well do you know them? Do they have any other friends? Since you've been lurking for a while. by now you should know that aspies are often uncomfortable with the mechanics of conversations - knowing when to start and stop talking, etc. They might be willing to talk to you more often if you take an active role by starting the dialog, not asking dead-end (yes/no) questions, and above all by being patient. On top of whatever speech problems they may have due to AS, they're going to feel the same tension as any neurotypical 14-year-old boy talking to a 14-year-old girl. Don't try to fill every awkward pause in the conversation with your own chatter.
Gaze avoidance is a very strong reflex action. You may find that if you stick with them long enough you'll get your chance to see those green eyes, at least in brief flashes now and then.
