The city where I live provided pickup for everyone's 'oversized' junk once a year. So for about 2 weeks you were allowed to put anything on the curbside for pickup and they would pick it up. It was great, it was like a continuous garage sale, picked up alot of stuff then. Unfortunately the city discontinued it because all the big piles of garbage would get strewn all over from ppl looking through all the stuff. I pick stuff up off the ground, springs or whatever because I 'may' use them one day. I still collect rocks. I'm a little anal about my lawn, one of the gardens my wife decided to fill with pine cones, so that got me started on collecting pinecones for awhile. I collect barbecues, I just recycled 4 that were beyond repair, but we still have about a dozen that are working. We don't buy much new, most of the stuff we own is recycled, I have a penchant for taking things apart and fixing them up, hence the picking up crap off the ground, it eventually becomes useful

I have a bunch of odd and end tools I basically never use,
old Nintendo-super Nintendo-playstation-computer games, and decks.
I used to collect antique and china tea cups and pots and bowls, I collected them since I was basically a child, a part of me collected them in hopes of sharing them with some girl someday that enjoyed that kind of stuff, I thought many did, during my last relationship she basically shattered that part of me, and as a reflection of this I broke my collection and threw them away and never collected another set again.
I do have some picturesque plates remaining though.
I have a ton of computer parts and stuff, enough to rebuild several computers,
I have a medallion from my vary first girl/friend, I have had that since I was 7.
I have an magnifying glass that I had since I was 9.
an old worthless painting thats been in my family since I was 5.
a few family photos.................
I have over 30 records, most of them Jethro Tull and pink Floyd albums that I do not even have a player for.
a couple pieces of petrified stones I had since I was 6.
some renaissance arts (reprints) on my walls,
I also have an antique microscope and a telescope and a couple chess sets one made of glass and the other hand made of wood.
I got the full set of AD&D books (1,2 & 3) and many gaming supples that I never use.
I have over 200 movies I collected, for the most part I collected them to share as a family time with the children and others in the home we was in as a family time thing to enjoy, I still have the collection but have not collected anything new since the relationship ended except for a couple children's sing along for my child, for the most part the movies just sit in the corner ignored and unused anymore, I been thinking about having a yard sale and just sell them all off.
I have a few books since I was a young man, most of my book collection got lost or stolen or was kept by my past relationships, I basically stopped collecting those as well and just read what I want off the net anymore.
I used to collect all kinds of precious rocks and stones, some I had since I was pre-teen, thunder eggs and agates from the many beaches I have walked and raw precious stones I tumbles from the hills and mountains I have climbed and other places special only to me and my memories the like, but those over time got lost due to moving or kept by my last ex-girlfriend, she kept them mostly because I was also into bead working using all kinds of shells and wood and precious stones to make beads out of, she liked those kinds of things as well so kept them along with the drimel.
since my last relationship ended I have not collected anything new for my self, its all been for my child.
It seems that most anything worth while that I have collected all my life has been taken by my past relationships,
I have finely reached a point to where I do not care to collect anything for my self any more except memorabilia from as my child grows over the years, much of the stuff I just mentioned that I still have I will soon be getting rid of, I do not have the room for it and I never use the stuff, its just a waist of space, and yes, I got broken....................

fleetwood mac/stevie nicks memorabilia, dragonflies (everything from stained glass lamps to paintings, to coasters, etc.), coca cola stuff (this started out as my husband's collection but over the years became mine as well), old books on art, psychology, literature and other stuff, paperweights, movies that I love on DVD, Vinyl records, photos, and various other stuff that I don't have room for.

I was collecting books for about 10 years, amassed a very large fire hazard, but recently sold off/donated my collection due to having to move to a smaller place.

I have a collection of old box wrenches.

I am currently beginning a teapot collection.
