Nichts ist schwerer zu ertragen, als eine Reihe von schönen Tagen
A warm summer day, broad blue sky, shining sun, birdies chirping in the trees, makes me feel dull and slow, and bores me terribly.
Give me thunderstorms, banks of fog, typhoons, hurricanes and full moons.
I'm a total cave dweller. If I had my choice I'd keep vampire's hours and never see the sun.

I love gloomy weather. I love it when it's really foggy.
At my old school the fog would collect all around the campus and I'd just stare out the window all period. |

Sunny weather and all that only really go well with a beautiful surrounding to go with it. I like thunder and lighting, because it's:
a) Interesting
b) Cool
c) I like to say something like 'soon I will rule the world' just before lighting strikes!
Actually I've never done c), but I'll try next time I get the chance now that I've thought of it. |

| When I visited Europe I was in some really cool-looking weather. Most of the time it was hot and sunny in the Alps, but when the sun went down, the clouds moved in. Boy, I'll tell you! They have some of the coolest thunderstorms that I've ever had to walk through. The lightning turns the sky into day for only a split second, which was enough time to take a picture. I also like snowstorms, as you can plainly see from my avatar. |

Once I was at a market and hail started falling and I had to hide under a market stall for 5 minutes _________________ Futurama rocks baby!

| I love gloomy weather. It makes me feel very much alive. I have certian problems that are worse when it's hot outside, because the heat slows my thinking. I find that thoughts are racing through my mind and that I move at turbo speed, when it's overcast or miserable. |

Same here. Unfortunately I am in the wrong country....lately we are getting more fog during winter and autumn though. _________________ “I have learnt this, at least, by my experiment; that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams in the night, and endeavors to live the life he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.” (H. A similar subject turned up in a chat I once participated in: Some people complained about getting gloomy and depressed due to the darker winter months. I and another bloak, on the other hand, agreed that it was pretty nice to be sitting in doors with a hot cop of coffee/tea/cocoa etc., and from a window observe people outside making their way through some really hefty weather; snowstorm, thunderstorm etc...
Sure it ain't fun having to go to work at whack-o-clock in the morning, through foot-high snow or a cold rainshower with a strong wind thrown in for good measure. But summer has it's drawbacks too; excessive rain has been mentioned, but let me add bugs that whizz about in front of the computer or TV screen, of which some will bite and cause itching if not worse. |

I've always preferred winter over summer. Dark clouds, rain, thunderstorms, fog, are all good. The sun just forces me inside. _________________ When angels are forced out of heaven, they become devils. |

I have never understood why people associate gloom and doom, is it because they rhyme?
I think Mr. Burns was a genius to block out the sun... imagine how much everyone would save on their electric bills!! |

Love it cloudy, foggy, rainy... interesting. I like weather that's actually being weather, doing something. Not bloody boring Southern California sunshine. Even the Santa Ana conditions are interesting, though they count among the negative forms of interesting weather, like sandstorms. For those (many) outside So. California, the Santa Ana condition is a period, usually of a few days, when hot, dry air blows in off the desert. This means lots of wind, which I would like, but also usually heat (on rare occasions cold) which is generally unseasonal or excessive and dry air to the degree that a slice of bread begins to dry in seconds after being removed from the bag and any loose photos curl slightly in response.
But it's a DRY heat! Idiots. Since when is that better? I still can't believe people say that.
No, I want real weather... provided it doesn't destroy my home or family... or self... but yeah, then I want it. People around here have no clue about real rain, although I will say that I did finally learn why so many Californians flee inside when it rains. Many just don't know how to deal with it. But some I've found do it because here, most of the rain falls during chilly weather. I still love it but I must admit it was a lot nicer to have rain on a warm day back in Louisiana. One rare rain shower fell on a warm day here last year and I found more people just walking outside in it, driving with their windows open... couldn't believe it. It was almost pitiful seeing them finding out there was another kind of rain.
In Louisiana I enjoy the great storms we had. Mind you, I wasn't around for the hurricanes, and I come from the north part anyway. We got tornados sometimes but fortunately I was never much affected by them. Before each storm the wind would pick up and the smell of lightning was all through it, the clouds would begin to boil and the feeling that something was coming was everywhere. I would hold my arms out and feel the wind between my fingers and pretend I was making it blow. I suppose I can't blame people for thinking I was odd...
Of course, the thing I maintain about people thinking others are strange is that if they really wanted to know why people do what they do, they should bloody ask.
Anyway, clouds suit me, I burn so easily and develop heat stroke easily too. We're lucky today... it's cool and overcast. Life is good. _________________ "Pack up my head, I'm goin' to Paris!" - P.W. |
