My problem is that I'm a terrible procrastinator, and although I would like to have a job, it's somehow hard for me to seek it, get contact with empleyers etc. I'm just thinking "now I should take an action", but still I remain passive and seem to lack initiative. New situations make me anxious, but I know I shouldn't use that as an excuse.
Any advices? |

| I totally agree with Fosf. I'm kind of the same way. I'm too afraid to take action, and I'm a terrible procrastinator. Yes, it's true. Any more advice for me, please??!! |

Its fear of change, unusual routines, new people etc.
Making a start is the key - go for it. Once you have started it all becomes easier.

Are there any employment support services where you are?
I am in the UK and I use the Richmond Fellowship. I am quite pro-active when it comes to looking for jobs, but I have difficulty with interviews and I have been bullied in jobs in the past because of my AS, so they help me with this.
The National Autistic Society run an organisation called Prospects, and there is also a programme called Workstep which might help.
But these are in the UK and I don't know which country you are in, or whether there might be anything comparable there. |

Have you tried going to a temp agency that does temp for hire?
this would allow you to prove yourself to prospective employers before you are hired, and also to see if that employer is someone you want to work for without any obligation to take the job. _________________ In every aspie there is an air of incorrigible innocence, which seems to conceal a diabolical cunning.

I have had this problem in the past and am experiencing it at the moment1
However, with me it is changing jobs. My company is going through a sticky patch and I know that I have to look around; what's more the sooner I start the easier it is going to be and my personal circumstances dictate that I really must.
However, like you I'm prevaricating. I think that deep down its a dislike of change. I of course don't like upheaval and any job change is that and involves well..... change. We just don't like it.
Advice? Well today I am going to force myself to do three hours job search and related preparation. I'm going to make a mental note of putting everything else to one side and DOING it.
A good way to start is to contact those that you know and trust and who can advise and help proactively. I have a couple of people on my grapevine who I will be speaking toin the next week.
With all of these things its about actually "making a start"!
