I'm a big lady these days, size 22 in swimwear, but I want to be able to play with my kids in pools and ocean. Fact is, I've got this mom body but still the mentality of a kid... I don't like having to think "lady" when I want to get into the water and I want to build sandcastles and play. I don't like having to think "lady" usually anyway. I wear dresses on Sundays and that's sort of like playing dress-up. Once church is over I want out of the uncomfy stuff and back into play clothes.
But swimwear... ugh. I sure as heck can't enjoy my playtime if I'm obsessing about everyone around me laughing at the fat lady. I've been teased too much in my lifetime to forget the rest of the world is watching me. I have found less popular beaches but in Summer that really won't exist...
Well, I have a lot of swimwear issues the designers just don't address. I've got a big bust that needs lots of support, post-maternity gut (spew) and chunky thighs. I figure a swimdress will fix most of this, and I can pretty much forget about my chubby arms since no one covers those well enough...
But here's the question... look at this suit and tell me... what's holding her up, science or nature?

If it's science, suit design, I can buy this thing and play in it. If it's nature, the suit may not be up to the task. In which case I'll have to pick out a granny suit and like it, for the so as to hide behind the pattern. There are nicer ones, but... well, I really need to try one on and I never have the time. So I have to guess from photos.
I may just get a suit and shorts. These stupid little scraps of cloth just cost so much, but I have a fancy to look female on the beach while I play. Guess I'm asking too much of one suit. |

Just my humble opinion (and hey, I'm a size 16, so I have an idea of what you're going through)
THAT'S ONE HECK OF A GOOD-LOOKING SUIT!
I think that would be a lot better looking than most of the plus-size granny suits I've seen. If you want to look like a girl but in a plus-size, I think you've found the right suit!

Hey, that's a really nice looking suit you found!
I'm 45, went braless for 10 years (except for work), and take a size 20, so nature is no help to me at all  . I wear jogbras all the time nowadays, no underwires or anything, but a racer back, and they support me just fine, so it is possible. That model looks young but busty, so she probably is getting some support from the suit.
I'd go for it if I were you. |

Yeah...go for it. It looks like it has lots of support at the top.
I have been wanting to get a swim dress type suit myself....I am a 14-16 these days...and have always been uncomfortable with most swim suits even when I was a size 8.
My joke is that i want a victorian era style bathing dress. |

| I probably can return it, but I know well how hard it would be to get to the post office. I have a baby and a five-year-old with me during the day, and the bigger one usually does something to make it impossible to do any errand without disaster... runs off, starts pestering people, climbs on things, kicks someone. Eh, I think I'll just buy it and if it doesn't put things in their place, I can throw a shirt over. Thanks folks. |

| It's a lovely swimsuit, and with modern technology I think you'd get good support, though maybe not to the extent of the model, bust-wise. I bet it's a truly good one, though. Better than the local discount store special, for sure. I'd say, if you can afford it, give it a shot. We all deserve to feel as good as we can about ourselves, given whatever we've got. |

| I'm a really weird shape (extreme pear) and fat suits don't work. I have a regular top that covers my belly and men's trunks. I also have a bikini top that matches. Because people first look at my top, they don't realize how fat I am. But I just get tired of badly fitting swim suits. |

I might try to sew one of them with a bra in the top of course. I made a sew suit before which fits because I need a bigger bottom than on the top.

I wear about size 14 or 16 so I am not really too fat but I had rolls on my stomach. I just think my thighs look terrible. There is the sunscreen/sunburn problem as well. I would rather cover up. Oh and I don't think that people really notice fat men with their huge bellies hanging out on the beach. Then why is my big ass such a problem?
The men's swim trunk and a top sounds like a good idea to me. I just don't know what I could wear on the top. I would like to wear one of those shirts or something with sleeves. I hate at the water park -- they do not allow you to go on the water slides with a t-shirt on. Also some men are told they can not go on the water slide with their big shorts or the shorts have metal parts of something. I like these http://www.suitsyoufine.com/
Most of the men's swim shorts are not very feminine looking prints as well as being very very baggy because of the elastic waist. I could sew a pair of "board shorts" but I can not find that type of nylon fabric anywhere when I need it. I guess when I find it next time, I am going to buy it. I think that a really nice part of board shorts that fit and a nice long top of lycra fabric would be perfect. A dream right now. |

| It all depends, are you just big or are you obese? I don't think that suit would ever look good or even fit properly on an obese person, it works out for the person in the photo because, although she is big, she isn't obese. |

well now youve all made me feel like a big fatass. haha. i cringe whenever i see someone my size in unflattering swimwear. i mean its ok to be big, but youve gotta know how to do it. im not big on fashion, so i just do what feels comfortable and hides the rolls. i wear an all black suit with basketball shorts to cover my thighs. sometimes i wear a tshirt over it too. i may not look girly, but im self confident enough to go on the beach with everyone else.

I like all the suits you put links to.
Do the skirts float up when you get in the water?
I would wear a burkini, the Islamic version of the bathing suit. NO! just kidding. I did see this young women at the water park in this long sleeved track suit with long pants and a tight hooded top. She said she needed to be covered up because of her religion. I think it was great because she was not going to get sunburned. I would rather cover up more than go walking around with less than my underwear on. |
