| I don't like going, but if I need to, to go buy clothes or stuff, then I can tolerate it, no longer then a hour long. |

My favorite tea shop is at the mall. I enjoy visiting the tea shop, and also the book shop. The rest of it? Blah, I could care less. _________________ cogito, ergo sum.

| I HATE the mall. The only reason I go their is to go to the movie store or the book store. When I go out shoping I love to go to smaller shops. It helps out the local economy and somehow makes me feel like I doing a good deed. |

NO
THIS IS MY LEAST FAVORITE PLACE TO GO IN THE WORLD
There are 100000000000 different things going on and it is the WORST PLACE for sensory overload
I went to the biggest amusement park in the state last Saturday and did OK, except when I got tired and more susceptible to s. overload
But the MALL is HORRIBLE....so many different people going in different directions, the music coming from every single store, the lighting makes me so sleepy and disoriented, the smells from perfume stores or just even regular stores that use scents
I always get really dazed and exhausted as soon as I walk into a mall and have NEVER been able to accomplish what I went in there to do (I went in last week for the first time in months, if not almost a year, to get a white shirt...and I got so disoriented that I ended up just wandering around not knowing where I was going until I had to leave)
Fun story...before knowing I had Asperger's my mom gave me one of her Adderall to give me the energy to get out of the house, and apparently Adderall is a psychotic for people on the spectrum....I felt physically sick to my stomach as soon as I got in the mall and almost started crying because all the input was too much for me to handle...we ended up having to leave only a few minutes later, and I was fine when we were back in the car and then back home.
In public in general I have a hard time holding down conversations because I get distracted by everything (which is why I hate meeting friends at restaurants to talk), but for some reason malls are the worst possible places for me to go in this regard |

I'm not a big fan of malls, I only go when I need to or when I think it's necessary. They're crowded, too trendy and I get bored.
When I was a kid I was a more little excited about going to the mall because it was something different, there were things that I liked at that mall, I use to get orange julius (spelling) and got toys. Now things are different.
I noticed over the years malls have changed. |

For me, amusement parks are far worse. My family recently went to Disney World and on the second day I ended up in a corner in the fetal position because I was just so overwhelmed by everything. Happily my family cancelled our third day, got our money back, and went home.
Perfume salespeople are evil, though. No, I do NOT want to try your vile scent. Kindly do not spray it in my nose before I can answer. _________________ cogito, ergo sum.

| I don't go there much, except to buy presents for people or if I want something that I know they have ( specific clothing item, etc,). There isn't much point in it. I do most of my shopping elsewhere--- malls are overpriced, usually. |

I used to love the mall. By myself. I liked looking at all the colors and the different store designs and patterns and sounds and smells. It was great for me to walk around, and I would be so distracted by everything, that I could get some exercise and not notice my back pain so much.
Even before that, I found it a good place to go to be distracted from daily problems. Nope, it's not a place to go and think. And I can't be alone, and that is what was good, for ME.
Heartbroken? Off to the mall. Oooh, shiny. Oooh, bright. Oooh, sparkly. This feels good, that smells good, all kinds of things to jerk my mind out of a rut or cycle and get it to focus and jump around on many different things.
I'd go in and try things on, and laugh and laugh about how silly I looked in whatever the trend was. Other things were a bit of a surprise to find out they looked good on me. Or fit well.
So I liked it FOR the distractions. |

If I'm going with parents, I don't mind at all. The Festival Place in Basingstoke I think is actually pretty cool architecture in some areas.
However, I would become a nervous wreck if I went on my own. |

Would it make a difference if it was an outdoor mall? Rather than a fully enclosed mall?
I guess that makes it a "shopping center" not a mall. But there's advantages to each one that I enjoy. The indoor ones are great for in climate weather. It's raining? Go to the mall. It's too hot? Go to the mall.
The outdoor ones with rows of shops on streets or pedestrian walkways, those are nice, because you can escape the shops into fresh air. The chatter doesn't echo. They've been redoing a local outdoor shopping center, and it's quite nice now. They put in benches and there are rows of giant pots with trees in them. All the trees have little lights in them that are lit a night, giving it a fairy tale look.
Other than how horribly they laid out the parking lots and how limited they made parking, it's turning into quite the center. Or maybe it just looks that way, because there is not enough parking. So it always looks crowded. Hah! |

I don't like it.
Sometimes, if I go really early when the shops have just opened it is not so bad as there are not so many people around.
But I would still need to interact with the staff in the shop, so even this is not ideal. |
