Post your finds!

Had to run some errands this morning...spied this sitting in a box awaiting the trash truck.

...cruddy looking MTD high-wheel mower awaiting closer inspection in the shed.

Stay tuned for part one of the the 12-step program: "How to drive past a trash can without stopping...beating the addiction." Laughing

I thought curbside shopping was when you follow a girl in your car harrassing her.

Beenthere, what a find !! I see stuff curbside, but it's too knackered to drag home.

I thought curb-side shopping was picking up things from the garbage. It may be different for us older people. Wink
Here's an example of how older and younger people say things:
When I was a teen a 3-way was what 3 consenting adults did. Imagine my surprise when my 13 year old son told me he and 2 friends wanted to have a 3way. And he wanted to know if it was okay??!! Shocked I calmed down when mt 16 year old explained it was a 3 way phone call. Rolling Eyes They had a great laugh!!

I didn't know there were so many different meanings for this phrase.
The other day Flakey and I found a bag of interesting beads, a wire rack for holding knickknacks....some random legos, a book on sewing with scraps.

I curbside shop ...I mean...pick through pile of junk in street curbs all the time.

Hey! My husband's a grad student. I'll have to take time to photograph most our apartment for this thread. ROFL!

That's fantastic!

I'm an unrepentant trash picker.
Garage sales too though. Got it
from my father. I too furnish
my home with trash (another
grad student here). It's a joy.
Not much recently, though my
coffee pot, stereo, and desk are
all finds from last year.

It's hard to drive by so much good stuff it's amazing what people throw away. I am lucky to live in a town that has curbside bulk waste pick up by the city.
I have never bought a piece of motorized lawn equipment but I have lawn mowers,a snow blower, chain saws, trimmers, and leaf blowers. I also have gotten lots of other things I fix and sell at a flea market like all kinds of tools and electronics even working computer with DVD writer in it that I use as a back up/work shop computer. I collect tube era radios and tvs two weeks ago I got a 1956 RCA 8inch portable TV for my collection. I was brought up on this every one in my family seems to have a knack for finding good stuff.

Or do you? You might want to make sure it is still there. Laughing

I like garage sales, or would if there were not always people there staring at you as you look at their stuff.
I always felt a little strange walking up to some strangers house and poking around through their things. I found it hard to believe that others didn't find that intrusive.

We have curbside bulk pickup too...I'm bordered closely by 3 different boros, each with different pick up days...you drive a mile down the road and hit one, then the next day you drive a mile in the other direction. Wink

Haven't bought a mower, trimmer or vacuum cleaner in a long time here either.

Laughing Cool! My son loves the chimes on it...they're soft, not as loud as some I've heard.

It used to bother me more than it does now. I try to ignore everybody else there and focus on the stuff. If you want a real uncomfortable feeling try going to estate sales of the recently deceased but that is where some of the best stuff is.

Actually, estate sales seldom bother
me, as they are usually (but not always)
run by outside agents. I really find them
enjoyable - but, well, I'm dead.

I have an old early 70's Fisher stero reciever that I found this way, its about 40 watts per channel.

I also have a bunch of Circuit boards and a Point to Point wired Solid State amp from an old organ that I dumpster dived for, after seeing in a construction dimpster.
