You appear to have a very extensive vocabulary. You know the meanings of most of the given terms, some of which are extremely advanced. Your excellent vocabulary can help you communicate and understand the written word. |
Heh. It almost makes me want to believe in the value of IQ tests!

You appear to have an average vocabulary. While you know the meaning of some difficult words, your vocabulary is still somewhat limited. Remember that by expanding your vocabulary, you will be better able to communicate and understand the written word. Fortunately, with practice, and by expanding your reading materials and making a conscious effort to learn new words, your vocabulary can gradually increase. |

...I swear, some of those "words" were not words. If no one says it ever, then it's not a word. It may be archaic, it may just be made up. In the case of archaic, I don't think that anyone would argue that "thede" is still a word. It's not. |

I agree with the sentiment, although an extensive test of vocabulary should probably involve knowledge of the etymological roots of words. _________________ "Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity." |

The words on the test are used so occasionally that there are some I have only seen once in my life. Considering that I'm hyperlexic and have been reading obsessively since age three or four... that's kind of ridiculous. _________________ Engineering student. Gamer. Christian. Asexual. score 123
percentile 95
I'm a wordy little thing. Hyperlexic and old, which means I have read an awful lot of text. Even so, I don't remember everything or I'd be higher up than 95 percentile.
One question almost stopped me cold because I was laughing. I figured everybody on this board must have gotten that question right. It was the one where if you are in a group and are not loquacious, people will think you are not congenial. There have been a lot of threads where people were miffed about just exactly that assumption. Some of these threads may have used "loaquacious" and "congenial" too, although I wouldn't swear to it. |

That's pretty impressive, but it's only an online test, so I don't trust it too heavily... _________________ Me:..but regular people don't go into sensory overloads and almost cause crashes while driving....

Honestly, I encountered a number of words I didn't know on the test. When it was at all possible, I made educated guesses. _________________ I talked for hours to your wallet photograph

My score was like that. It's too long to take again. I think with my dyslexia/bad short term memory I have great difficulty expanding my vocabulary. _________________ Don't count your problems, count your blessings

I thought, however, that their word sets were open to some interpretation. I didn't enjoy that test at all. I particularly dislike thinking about analogies in a testing forum. A few questions seemed too subjective. I suppose I succeeded, but it's a dubious honor. And I resented the test. |

I love English for its flexibility. There's a word for almost every concept you could imagine; and when there isn't a concept, English simply borrows the appropriate word from another language.
On the other hand, German appeals to the organized part of me. Except for gendered nouns, there's no language that seems to be designed with nearly as much no-nonsense common sense. _________________ Engineering student. Gamer. Christian. Asexual. Information Addict. Deal with it!

Ĉu vi havas aŭdanta de Esperanto?
(Have you ever heard of Esperanto?)
You know, considering my random knowledge of various other languages, I think that my score was probably too low. |
