| The original Super Mario Brothers for the NES was the first game I can clearly remember playing. |

Let's see
the furthest I can remember is probably Sim City for the SNES.
That might also be tied with "Shining Force" for the Genesis (one of the finest turn based RPGs of all time) and "Super Mario World".
The first game I vividly remember FINISHING is "Diablo" for the PC, which I did when i was 8. Yes, my dad let me play "Diablo" when I was eight because I knew that none of it was real and it was a fantasy game. I played that game for years after Diablo II, because of all the rare equipment that spawns randomly in the dungeons with every play. Diablo II did that as well, but Diablo I didn't have an infinite amount. You basically knew all the unique items and there was always several you wanted but could never get.
The crazy thing about my dad is that he's a devout Christian and a regestered Republican, but he's also a huge Pink Floyd fan and a Dungeons & Dragons player for 30-odd years. He always knew that the satanic panic over D&D was awful stupid, because any hardcore biblethumper looking for satanic incantations would be bored out of their skull by a normal D&D game. _________________ "We can't stop here, this is bat country." - Hunter S. | I can't remember the first video game I played, but my earliest memories are of Chip 'n' Dale (NES) and Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle (Sega Genesis) |

Actually, I might have played a few games before Pokémon Red, but they were demos of Humungous Entertainment games, which are point and click adventures designed for younger gamers, (I was quite young then)
I'm surprised that this topic is still going considering it was one of my first topics. _________________ Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus and Aspies are from Wrong Planet.

Hmm, it would either have been Pitfall, Pac-Man, or Freeway for the Atari 2600. Ahh, those were the days. |

I’m not positive what my first game was. I think it might have been Asteroids. Asteroids, Space Invaders, Missile Command, and Combat are the ones I remember the first time I played a video game at my friend’s house.
I always loved this artwork on this game box.
Combat, the game that came with your purchase of the Atari 2600.
Ah, back in the days when getting one of these seemed like the most important thing in the world.

It's still pretty important to me
I don't have the 2600 I grew up with, but I do have a heavy sixer \m/
Got a Flashback 2, as well. _________________ How wonderful to be so profound. |

I had to look that up to see what you were talking about... Wow, that's dedication. I think there is a X-Box game disc in my house somewhere with about 50 classic Atari games on it. Not as good as the real thing though. |

Ascii Star Trek on the Michigan Tech Mainframe.
I'd won two weeks at college engineering camp for first place in my Jr. High science fair, and was immediately entranced by the computers. _________________ 'The question of whether computers can think is like the question of whether submarines can swim.' - Edsgar Dijkstra |
