My favorites are Double Happiness, the Doom Generation, and Dazed and Confused.

Yes I like "indie" films-
Freeway (before Reese Witherspoon got famous, also has Keifer Sutherland, Michael T. Weiss, Amanda Plummer)
The Station Agent (Peter Dinklage, Michelle Williams, Bobby Cannavale)
The Unbelievable Truth (dir. by Hal Hartley, early film starring the late Adrienne Shelley-she wrote/directed new indie film "Waitress" just before she died)
You Can Count On Me (Laura Linney, Mark Ruffalo)
Imaginary Heroes
A Map of the World (Sigourney Weaver, David Strathairn, Chloe Sevigny, Julianne Moore)
The Safety of Objects (Glenn Close, Patricia Clarkson, Dermot Mulroney)
Lock, Stock & 2 Smoking Barrels
Snatch
Triggermen
Layer Cake (starring the new James Bond before he got that gig, Daniel Craig)
Safe Men (Paul Giamatti, Mark Ruffalo)
Divorcing Jack (Rachel Griffiths, Robert Lindsay, William Gant)
The Last Supper (Ron Perlman, Bill Paxton, Annabeth Gish, Courtney Vance, Cameron Diaz, Ron Eldard)
Roger & Me (Michael Moore's first documentary)
Desperate but not Serious (Martha Plimpton, Henry Rollins, John Corbett)
Saving Grace (Colin Ferguson, Brenda Blethyn)
are just a few...
edited to remove title that isn't considered to fit in this category.

You, Me & Everyone We Know is a good movie.
Im not sure what is Indie and what is not. I know the above is Indie, because it won some awards in this department.

Independent of maijor studio support. They are often payed for by the filmmakers themselves or by a good friend. They are often cheaply made.

I didn't think that Closer was an indie film.
It had a lot of high priced actors in it. Usually in indie films the actor are kind of nonames.

Underworld (yes, the first one was indie)
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Me and You and Everyone We Know
Snatch

To a lesser extent:
Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
Garden State
Eagle Vs. Shark

These aren't the only ones I've liked but they're all I can think of right now. I like plenty of indie and foreign films, so it's hard to remember them all....

...Yes , the whole " indie cred "/" ' KEEP IT REAL '-ness " definition article can be a puzzlement in and of itself , but I like a fair # of flicks that fall into that slot , and , just last night , saw " AWAY FROM HER " ( Julie Christie . ) , d-b'd with " THE WIND THAT SHAKES THE BARLEY " (less my interest , and perhaps seen as less " independent " in Britain and Eire??? Okay , however .) .
I liked " AWH " a fair amount !
