| How do you do it??? There is a beach down the road from me and my kiddo loves going. The water, I don't mind. But the SAND!!!! I usually end up cutting the trip short because she wants to hang out on the beach towels, then go in the water, then back on the towels. Once I'm home it is RIGHT in the shower and scrub scrub scrub. but while I am at the beach, how do I cope with the sand better? I hate telling her it is time to go home because it makes her so happy to be there, but having sand on my feet makes my skin crawl in a MAJOR way. |

| Perhaps there are picnic tables there? If you can't hang out at a table you could bring a portable folding chair, instead of sitting on the towel. |

| It's the walking from the towels/chairs to the water and back again. I get sand all over my feet. You can brush the sand off once you are back at the towels but I have such an aversion to the texture that it doesn't help unless I wash them. |

WOW, that brings back memories. **I** hated the sand ALSO! Maybe you could get a few towels and some nice rocks, or weights, and weight down a couple of towels and use a third to wipe the sand off your feet while standing on one towel, and walk to the other you can lie on. HOPEFULLY IT can stay pretty clean and comfortable. You could THEN put it down in front of your car door, wipe your feet off there, and drive out. HOPEFULLY you won't get MUCH of the sand in your car.

Would you be open to wearing socks at the beach? What about the beach wader shoes that are available? _________________ Apathy is a dominant gene. Mutate. |

Both allow small amounts of sand in
I'm seriously thinking next time of bringing a bucket, filling it with water, then washing my feet everytime I get back to the towels. I don't think I have any other option. It is a very serious aversion. I don't even like looking at someone with sand on them. |

The only viable solution is to wear socks with your footwear. _________________ Why be a label, be yourself and keep others guessing instead. - Dee_. |

Wow, it's amazing how so many aspies have similar issues. I also ABSOLUTELY HATE the sand on the beach. I can't stand the feeling of it on me, especially on my feet. And when there's sand on your feet, it's impossible to put on footwear. On top of all that, there's the bad combination of blazing heat and uncomfortably cold water where I live. I solve the problem by not going to the beach at all, no matter what. Instead, I go to the park district pool. There's the nice, clean concrete deck instead of the nasty sand, pleasantly cool but not cold water, and being able to go into the air-conditioned locker room whenever the heat gets too uncomfortable.
My friends give me a hard time over this on occasion. They say I rely too much on the civilization and neglect the wonders of nature. Well, in my opinion, the sand, blazing heat, and cold water are anything but wonders of nature. God must have blinked when he separated water from land; why does the separation line (i.e. the beach) have to be so disgusting? I'll take civilization over nature any day. |

I used to bring a squirt bottle with me and every time I sat down I'd spray off my feet before sitting back down. Not one of those spray bottles that stops at "mist" and won't spray a steady stream, lol, but one that had some decent force behind it when need be It didn't look odd either (if you are worried about looking odd washing your feet in a bucket each time), because all the other females are misting themselves with their spray bottles all day anyway. _________________ Sorry for the long post...

Well, I usually don't have a problem with sand, but maybe try and find a patch of grass to sit on? _________________ Spring is the season when the hawks all start to fly, Well maybe when I die we'll trade places, I'll grow wings and I'll fly, Hey, Blue John, hey Blue John, Heyyy Bluuuue John, Can I Play with you? |

I actually love the feeling of the sand on my feet. I once got my sis to bury me in it (except my head, of course)! _________________ I was sad when I found that she left

Always wear some kind of footware at the beach. Old pumps etc, even sandals . Even in the sea, wear something on the feet problem solved? |
