So I recently got a summer job at a small shop near my house.

As a result of the environment I have been forced into, I have started to slowly pick up things I have never been able to do before, like making small talk with people, commenting on the weather and such. I'm not very good at it, but it's another skill to work on.

The thing is though, as skills like these are growing slowly, I have seen a very quick increase in other symptoms; such as my obsessions, shyness, and general awkwardness (both around people and in situations) and I was wondering has anyone else every had this before? Where one thing gets better but others get worse?

I don't really know how to explain it, I hope you understand.

Yes, when i started working, its a coping mecanism u r under much more stress, u gotta deal with ppl in an unfarmilair athmosphere. As time goes on, u will get better with ppl their, and your stress will go down, assuming all variable remain constant, I.E. financial hardship, buissy place, ect...

Yes hopefully it will.

I think it is good for me but at the same time I think it is too much at once.
My brain isn't designed to learn this kind of thing this fast!

A lot of it might also be that since aspies tend to use a "script" of sorts when talking to people, you might be picking up new stuff that your mind can refer to in different situations while working, but this might, and probably is, causing you a lot of stress, which might make your other symptoms worse like it does with me.

That's true, I say almost exactly the same thing to every person unless they prompt another string of conversation. Laughing
I still have problems thinking of things spontaneously, that's the hardest part.
It's after people leave I'm like "Darn, I could said _____!" Confused
