For a girl with AS to rather read a book than hang out with her "Friends?"

The reason being these "Friends" tend to treat her badly.

Why is it considered "Nurky" or "Weird and Anti Social" for her to want to read a book, rather than put up with the alternative of being abused?

I'm assuming that it'd be "normal" for normal people to rather read a book than being verbally abused.

its not normal at all

normal people thrive on taking abuse and also on dishing it out

maybe you dont abuse your 'friends' enough and thats why they think you're nurky

Did you mean: define: turkey

No definitions were found for nurky.

I say stick with the books, they don't argue back because they are made of paper and glue!

because the majority of people are neurotypical, and are very group based, rather than on their own.

I like learning, but I also understand that if i want friends, a life and hopefully someday a girlfriend/lifepartner i need to get out and socialize. I have gotton it down pretty well, well... as far as being friends with guys, the girl thing is alot harder, im very shy around them, hahah

if they r miss treating her, she needs to ditch them, find true friends, or at least maby conform a tad (sometimes thats the problem, at least it was for me)

Do what you feel is right and don't get hung up on what other people call it.

Why should you hang out with people who abuse you? If they like abusing each other, that's fine for them.

Since you don't like it, enjoy your book. Sooner or later, you'll find people with whom you are a "fit." I bet they will have read a lot as well. Very Happy

I think its perfectly fine to read a book instead of hanging out with friends who are abusive. It sure is healthier. Wink

Read a Dictionary or get abused by 'friends'? I'll take the Dictionary, thanks.

And if you get the right kind of book, it will have that delicious smell on the pages that old books have and the new printed books will never be able to achieve. That spicy musky dry scent.
