Like, someone thinks that your AS/Autism is bad to the point where they spell it out to you things that you all ready know, or just go over with you the most basic of things that even a 5 year old would know? I get that sometimes, especially my parents.

Its even more annoying for me at work. I was supposed to do camera drills, which is normally not a problem for me, there were about 3 or 4 people telling me a bunch of things that I've always knew ("When you pan left, it means move the camera to the left"). I know that they were just trying to help, but I think that they must be underestimating my intelligence if they felt that they needed to go over that with me. It's maddening sometimes.

So far, that has never happened to me.

Most people dont know I have AS but they do kind of talk down to me like I am much younger than my age. I am 20 and they treat me as if I am in my early teens. I wonder if this is due to my anxiety, AS or personality.

I am almost 32 and I act like I am in my teens..
I don't have AS written all over my face, but i get talked down to by people who are younger than me who think they are older than me.
Sometimes I perceive the way people interract with me as being talked down to..but maybe they actually talk like that to everyone.

No. I made authority figures uncomfortable when they attempted such a thing. Now, people try to talk up at me (the irony...).

I actually do have "I'm autistic" written all over me.

No, I haven't really noticed people talking down to me... especially for the way I act. If someone talks down to me... it's usually just their way... though it is annoying when people can't be bothered to remember what I am competent in...

This is actually something I am really paranoid about in social interactions. I like to explain everything in the detail that I understand it in my head... this sometimes means going over simple things just as a memory aide, but I start mixing up words since I don't want to explain something that is simple. I can also go to the other extreme explain something that goes over their head... then I appear condescending. It's really a fine balance, and can only come from really knowing a person.

I get talked down to a lot and I think it is because my behaviour implies I am naive. I behave and look a lot younger than I am too.
At work they know I have AS and don't really talk down but explain things more detailed than they would bother to another person, also repeat things to me a lot, but this is often actually helpful and so I don't mind the times when it is stuff I already know about.

Sometimes I have, but it is FAR less common now. It is funny how you can be SO CLEARLY more intelligent than someone, and even THEY tell you that, and constantly ask you for help and thank you, and then they talk down to you. And then you tell them how what they said that was wrong, speak to a much higher level thing, and leave them dumbstruck.

What I hate WORSE is when you call "tech support", and THOSE idiots talk down to you. Like when I asked for how to get a copy of the PCL definition for a THEN new printer. STANDARD PCL did NOT support color. They act like I am stupid, and then ask me to install the WINDOWS driver! I told them I COULDN'T, because it was a UNIX machine and I was simply asking for this to use in my OWN software! It took those blithering idiots WEEKS to finally offer a book on it but, by then, I found another reference.

Yes, it happens to me a lot too. I don't mind it so much if it's from strangers... but my mom ALWAYS talks down to me and I hate her because of that... it's ruining my life; no wonder I have no confidence.

that seems to be normal for support staff, when staff at home phone sky support to get sky tv installed for am a while back-including their internet, they asked the sky staff if they can install on linux as am had never used adsl before,
the man said- linux, its a brand of pc isn't it? like dell? yeah,it will work.

I don't get it all the time but a lot more than I would like. Some people must think I am stupid but the irony is I'm probably brighter than most of them.
