I'm sorry, but fight scenes in movies bore me. So much is going on - the noise, tons of people, the movements all going too fast - that I lose focus, and I just don't care who gets wounded or who dies...LOL. In fact, if the lead character died I think I might be happy because it would mean the fight scene would be over.
What do you think of fight scenes in movies? If you love them, why? If you hate them, is it the gore or the sensory overkill or what?

How about the corridor scene in Old Boy? That scene kicks ass. _________________ He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster. And if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you—Friedrich Nietzsche |

Depends on how visually interesting.
Fight scenes in the likes of Crouching Tiger or 300 are part of the reason I even bother to watch them.
If it's just ordinary war or fisticuffs, then, yes, it does get quite boring and confusing. |

| I find fight scenes to be boring unless they involve zombies or other monsters. |

Any fight scene in any movie, even if I otherwise really enjoy the movie, will cause me to fall asleep.
Fight scenes in Last of the Mohicans should have been exciting, but I fell asleep. Same with Lord of the Rings.
I don't know if I just turn off in an otherwise interesting movie because all the frenzy is just too much action without any contrast, or what. Adrie, I am totally with you on this. _________________ It's not enough just to vote! Take an active part in the political process! |

Depends a lot on which movie, and how well it was done. One of my favorite fight scenes was near the end of "Lethal Weapon One", between Riggs and the bad guy. And I love all the fights in "Chronicles of Riddick." Sometimes, if it's obviously fake, or too much computer tech is used, then it is irritating and ruins the effect. _________________ "However gradual it looks from here, look if you like, but you will have to leap." |

| I like some of them - it depends on how well they are filmed and if they're necessary to the plot. There are a few things I won't like: scenes where the score is completely percussive; scenes with slow-motion shots; scenes that just try to look flashy and cool; and scenes that are heavy on CGI. |

| They can be quite exhilarating if they're executed properly. |

I like some martial arts fight scenes. Maybe the occasional one-to-one combat, too. (Is that how you say that? lol) But it's rare...
So Shayne, you're right, I'm adding a "love some" option now.
Edit: Ok, I can't figure out how to edit the poll... |

How the hell can you guys not like fight scenes? I only hate a small fraction of them.
...although I did use to spar and box quite a bit as a teenager. (My dad forced me into those types of classes.) I guess I developed an appreciation? _________________ He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster. | Love them. A badly choreographed fight scene is at least hilarious to watch. |

| It really depends on the actual fight scene. If it's well done I will really really love it. But I HATE fight scenes that have a shaky or murky camera that doesn't let me see what's going on, and unfortunately that's quite trendy these days. |

Agree-can't follow what's happening during these scenes, it's just combination of bodies in motion-indistinct blurred whatever. Not interested in watching people physically interact in these ways, or at rapid pace.
As a kid, had "a taste for" action in films, but that was only because of the novelty & grown-up-ness of it. Grew out of this interest, now find fighting to be boring and/or off-putting.
Hated boxing matches on tv (which my father would watch on weekends when it was his custodial time with me). Violence & gruesomeness are yucky to me-and they just keep raising the bar for what level to portray/depict, in order to 'top' what's been done previously on tv/film.
I'm morbid (thinking about death & decrepitude) in some ways, but am also quite squeamish. Chase scenes (whether involving vehicles or on foot) bore & annoy me, also.
Guess I'm terribly typical of so-called 'female interests' in film/tv, since I like plot full of conversation rather than action. _________________ *"You cannot administer a wicked law impartially-it destroys everyone it touches, its violators as well as its upholders."* |

| The only fight scenes I really enjoy are those in the Kung Fu movies. Jackie Chan, Jet Li, you know, those scenes. Other than that, they are a big yawn. |
