Yeah, I'm bored! Here are all the pics I found so far of my SSRI antidepressant Celexa (citalopram hydrobromide):

I'm taking Glucophage also known as Metformin. Only for my PCOS, not anything psychological. Pic
They're big pills. _________________ Currently Reading: Survival by Juliet E. Czerneda

Hi Ana.
how are you finding the Citalopram? & what dose are you on?
It's my 1st time taking meds & i feel it has taken the edge off my hypoaroused nervous system. I took Temple Grandin's advise that a small dose of ssri can give people in the spectrum a greater quality of life.
Im only taking 5mg but it is working
much peace to you Ana

Criss-- I'm on 20 mg of citalopram a day for major depression. It WORKS! Boy, does that stuff ever WORK! Sometimes it doesn't work well enough, but on it I don't see black holes or fade out or feel like everything is literally hopeless or feel like my soul will always be dead. I still get depressed sometimes, but it's just mild "I feel blue" depression, never like what I used to have!
Peace to you too! IS the citalopram making you giddy yet? It does that a lot to people who are just starting on it.
I've never so much as smoked pot in high school... never even lit up a cigarette... rarely drink coffee... so the whole drugs-for-your-head thing, even a prescription antidepressant, was new and exciting for me! _________________ God protects fools. Be a fool.

Hmm, those drugs have opposite effects, I imagine they cancel each other out quite a lot. What reason did the doctor give for prescribing the antipsychotic? I'm disturbed by how many people on the autistic spectrum get those prescribed when they were designed for managing psychosis, the severe side-effects make it pretty inappropriate to use them for anything else. |

I got prescribed the antipsychotic because I've suffered from major psychosis just a couple of years ago. Apparently I'm much more prone to psychosis than most people, and I'm to swallow those pills probably for the rest of my life to prevent it from ever happening again.
I also have my doubts about the combination Zyprexa + Ritalin. Like you said, they seem to cancel each other out for the most part. I've felt uneasy about that for some time already. I think I should perhaps discuss this with my doctor the next time I see her. |
