A full beard without a 'stach is called a chin curtain. There are a lot of beards you didn't mention in this thread, such as the horseshoe moustache (http://u2fanlife.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/05/the-edge.gif), the Franz Josef beard (http://roy.stiand.com/forsidebilder/lemmy60_4.jpg), or the soul patch (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/b/bb/SteveVai_1.jpg/180px-SteveVai_1.jpg)

Yeah, I just couldn't think of them all. I didn't even know the names that you mentioned.

I voted for a Long Full Beard with moustache, since that is what I have right now (it has been growing since July).

The only time that I saw anyone with a soul patch was when I was living in Tonga, and I thought that they were just growing it that way to be funny.

I alternate between either a clean-shaven face or a full beard.

I get comments all the time about both... they like the 'clean' look or they prefer the beard... just can't please them all Razz

I've toyed with the mustache only, and other variants, but never out in public except once with just a mustache and long sideburns.

I only shave because the desire hits me all-of-a-sudden... no other particular reason.

I prefer a very cleanshaven face on a man, but I love lots of body hair. My facial skin is very sensitive, clean shaven is easier on my face, or I can't kiss a man.

There certainly are a lot of things that can be done with facial hair

Here is one from India

Here is a style from the 19th century, where they just let the neck hair grow (I think that I have a picture of one of my ancestors that looks similar)

Here is an eleven-footer

Che Guevara and Fidel Castro, who were famous for their unkempt beards

I think I'd prefer a man to have a trim mustache. I don't mind sideburns, but I can't imagine touching a hairy face to be too pleasant.

Paul McCartney started his musical career cleanshaven:

Then grew a moustache

Then went with a full beard

Had a goatee for a bit

And is back to clean shaven

I think that I prefer the full bearded look.

I voted for clean shaven because I think thats how MOST men look best. A lot of men get uneven growth, ginger bits etc which is not nice. But I know a few men who have nice neat moustaches and look very stylish with it.

A short, full beard with a moustache makes me weak in the knees. Wink

Never trust a man with a beard. He has something to hide.

http://members.aol.com/RVSNorton1/Lincoln50.html

It was the fall of 1860. Abraham Lincoln was the Republican nominee for president of the United States. Election Day was less than a month away. Mr. Lincoln, a lifelong beardless man, received a letter written by Grace Bedell, an 11 year old girl from Westfield, New York. Written October 15th, 1860, the letter urged him to grow a beard. Unedited, Miss Bedell's letter read:
Hon A B Lincoln...

Dear Sir

My father has just home from the fair and brought home your picture and Mr. Hamlin's. I am a little girl only 11 years old, but want you should be President of the United States very much so I hope you wont think me very bold to write to such a great man as you are. Have you any little girls about as large as I am if so give them my love and tell her to write to me if you cannot answer this letter. I have got 4 brother's and part of them will vote for you any way and if you let your whiskers grow I will try and get the rest of them to vote for you you would look a great deal better for your face is so thin. All the ladies like whiskers and they would tease their husband's to vote for you and then you would be President. My father is going to vote for you and if I was a man I would vote for you to but I will try to get every one to vote for you that I can I think that rail fence around your picture makes it look very pretty I have got a little baby sister she is nine weeks old and is just as cunning as can be. When you direct your letter direct to Grace Bedell Westfield Chatauque County New York

I must not write any more answer this letter right off Good bye

Grace Bedell

The Republican presidential nominee responded on October 19th. His letter to Grace Bedell read:
Private

Miss Grace Bedell

My dear little Miss

Your very agreeable letter of the 15th is received - I regret the necessity of saying I have no daughters - I have three sons - one seventeen, one nine, and one seven years of age - They, with their mother, constitute my whole family - As to the whiskers, having never worn any, do you not think people would call it a piece of silly affection if I were to begin it now?

Your very sincere well wisher
A. Lincoln

I like clean-shaven men. I think beards are disgusting and messy.
