Just got a notice that my 20th High School Reunion is in June of 2006, and my big accomplishments are; I was finally diagnosed with Aspergers in January, and I have 8 years sober from all the drugs and alcohol I once medicated myself with.
Unemployed, live at home, broke, no big career accomplishments, no wife, no kids.
God, I feel like burying myself in self pity.
Well, at least I finally have a diagnoses. |

| Just by curiosity usually after how many years do High School Reunion occur? Is there one like after 5, 10 years, 20 years, etc or it this your first one? |

Irishmic,
I think just the fact that you have kicked all the substance abuse and have gotten yourself diagnosed big steps. I hate reunions. It's all about who can top this.
The truth of the matter is you are on your own schedule. You have taken steps to dramatically improve on your life and health. Focus on what is important to you to do next. In the end if you are happy and prgressing in a positive direction you will be doing okay.

If I ever become successful in life, I'd love to go to a high school reunion just to show off the jocks and cool kids at school who beat me up... In fact, even if I don't, I'm much better than I used to be when I was at school, so I guess it would still be cool. _________________ 255 characters max. Type your signature with HTML coding |

The time period for HS reunions depends on the school and the class. My HS class did not have a 10 year reunion because we do not know what happened to most of the class members and we are the most unorganized group of people who probably cannot agree on what color a school bus is
We will probably end up doing something like a 17th year reunion just to keep our status as the wierd out of touch class _________________ Louis J Bouchard

LOL!
Love it.
I went to my 5th and 10th probably because I was still married at the time and the ex wanted to go. I missed the 20th but sort of wish I had gone. I heard that by the 20th people were finally over the "oh look at how I've succeeded" thing.
Irishmic,
8 years of being clean is a pretty big thing. Try not to be too hard on yourself.

My High School has reunions in 10 year increments.
It's interesting that some schools have 5.
And ok, ok I'll stop beating myself up about it.
Finally getting a diagnoses has been a beautiful life accomplishment,
and I woudn't have done it if I wasn't sober. But sometimes I want to sit and sulk over the mistakes I made by not having a diagnoses until now. Guess thats why I made an appointment to see my old psychologist on Saturday. Yea, this too shall pass.
Laughter is sometimes the best medicine,
and imaging a whole class debating the color of a school bus is funny. |

I think my school could be as unorganized as trying to decide the color of the school bus. They do high school reunions fine, and they even have band reunions and alumni nights for band members (they band is like a huge 'family', and is very organized); but the school could be very horrible at organization. For instance, last year, I went to registration to register for classes the day that they wanted us to go, and they said that everything wasn't ready, and then all of us rescheduled our days and come out for nothing. Not only that, they are also in the process of rebuilding our school, and they said that we wouldn't even recognize our school. Well, the only thing that was different was a little bit of a construction fence, and that they put in gravel for the parking lot; that was it, and embarassing for the school. They also have this idiotic thing where all the students are organized into teams A,B,C, and D, which makes absolutely no sense because people always want teachers on the other teams, and in my team I wanted to take French, but they only had French 2 and no French 1, so that too was kind of stupid. I mean, if someone wants to take French, they have to take French 1 first, not French 2! _________________ I am a 19 year old girl who lives in Washington State and was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome at 9 years old. I can't wait until my high school reunion. But then again, high school still seems like just yesterday to me.
I kinda wish my elementary (K-8) school would hold a reuinion, actually.

You know what, some elementary schools do! Usually an all school event or for people that went there during a period ie everyone who was a student during the 80s, for example.
If you have time, maybe you can organize something like that. Ask if you can have a picnic on the school grounds, put a few ads in the local paper, and see if you get a response. Expect to start small but get names and addresses and ask everyone to invite others.

Yeah right, Like I would even go to that. Besides, I went to 6 different Elementary/Middle Schools from K - 8. Which one would I attend. _________________ Louis J Bouchard

Any you wanted too! lol
I went to four or five elementary schools too. I'd only be sort of interested in one. But it sounds like mikibacsi1124 is in a different situation.... |

Does anyone know what the best method to find out when their HS reunion occurs?
As in who keeps the dates and information.
I have thoughts of going to my 10th, in say a couple years from now.
So what if they aren't what some say they may be. But I'd go. I will avoid the who topped who nonsense. |

I'm not old enough to consider going to a high school reunion yet (still in high school), but there is this one site called www.hi5.com that I my sister lead me to, and they had this one cool feature that let you show which school(s) you went to, and it showed other people that went to that specific school plus the year that they graduated. That's probably the best way for you to find out, unless you come up with a better idea. Hope this helps! _________________ I am a 19 year old girl who lives in Washington State and was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome at 9 years old. I like to run, play trombone, and draw.
