Age: 27 but everyone thinks I'm younger

Hobbies and Interests: watching TV, playing Civilization, Final Fantasy

Why are you here? Something to do. I don't work. I don't have any friends. So I'm bored alot.

When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): Diagnosed myself with high-functioning autism this year. My doc said I probably have Asperger's syndrome or PDD-NOS but was told there's no need to get diagnosed. Mom said I was born different and displayed all the symptoms of autism since I was a baby but she never took me to a specialist even though family members and school recommended it cause I didn't talk till I was 3, was very quiet, and stayed to myself all the time. Saw a doctor when I was 18 and he diagnosed me with dysthymia (chronic mild-moderate depression) due to being lonely from not being able to make friends and also said I had mild OCD traits. I didn't know about autism until I watched Miracle Run on lifetime. My life growing up was similar to the two high-functioning autistics on the movie.

Favorite subjects: math, computer programming

Year/Grade: Not in school anymore although some people still ask me if I'm in school. I wish I could do high school over again.

Favorite music: top 40, pop, dance, some rap

Books: They still make books? Thought they were obsolete now that we got TV and movies.

TV shows/Movies: Lost, Prison Break, and 24 are best shows on TV. Numbers is good too. I'm kinda like the math whiz on that show but I'm not nearly as smart as him.

Instrument: Tried drums but I wasn't good enough.

Do you like sports? I like playing ultimate frisbee, pool, ping-pong, and poker. I'd love to be fast enough to play basketball and coordinated enough to snowboard. People laugh at me when I play basketball and I fell all the time the few times I tried snowboarding. I hate watching sports. It makes me fall asleep.

Family: Single. Never had a girlfriend but I definitely want one now.

Clothing: t-shirt and shorts or blue jeans. I like bright colored clothes

Job: Unemployed. I used to work in a factory but now I got chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) and I'm trying to treat that now. One thing interesting is that alternative doctors recommend many of the same treatments for autism and CFS so I wonder how treating the CFS will affect me being autistic.

Plans for the future? I'll have to wait. If the CFS treatments also work for autism, I may end up being a different person so I have no idea what my future will be like. After trying the diet mentioned below, I really don't know who I am anymore since I think and act different depending on what I eat.

Any comments? I spent most of my life alone. I recently started a gluten-free/casein-free diet (no wheat or milk) and now I'm less autistic. I want to be around people alot more and I am finally starting to understand people. Babies given morphine will act just like autistic babies because of the way opiates like morphine affect the brain. Some autistics can't digest wheat and milk proteins and because they are similar to morphine it results in autistic behaviors. I think everyone diagnosed with an ASD should try the diet for a couple weeks to see if they feel different and like the difference. I'm much happier now and wish I knew about it sooner.
