| I mean I have lived a very good life and had a very privelaged background and a very easy time. The thing is after looking on these message boards I see a lot of cultural BS that makes everything harder. I see people saying that males ought to behave a certain way to get a girlfriend (as opossed to just being yourself). This really says something about our society. There are guys that *Gasp* be themselves without reading self-help books myself included. I see people saying that they were picked on a lot, which is kind of ridiculous in a society that was basically founded by rejects (English puritans, French huegenots, Jews persecuted in Poland and Russia, immigrants in general etc). Frankly the whole self-help book think really cuts the cake. I mean basically those books tell people how not to be themselves. Conformity sucks and so do conformists. If I wanted to live in a conformist intolerant society I would expect myself to live in Iran or a Middle-Eastern country. I know this was a bit of a rant, but what is everyone's opinion? |

| I think American society "sucks" sometimes for the same reasons that every society anywhere has ever "sucked." |

The US was NOT founded by rejects! You are confsing the US with australia. AUSTRALIA was fonded by rejects. It used to be a PRISON colony! The US was founded by some people considered to be smart, and they originally wanted to be BRITISH subjects. They just didn't want the stupid laws, taxes, etc... They fought off the biggest military power of the day!!!!
As for your rant of how males behave? They do that EVERYWHERE! |

true, true, and remember I'm not saying this always happens. My life has been very easy and I haven't had any of these problems. What I'm saying is many people in our society are conformists yet we preach freedom constantly. |

Well Kid020, I live in the US also. YEP, they got help. From GERMANS also! France got help from US ALSO! Germany did in a way. At least we helped get rid of that dictator. So what is your point?
I stand by my statement about males. Even males in INDIA have to live like their caste requires. In europe, they originally were to follow certain customs, etc... In the US, they did the same, and other cultures came with other behaviours. |

To put it very simply, society sucks, every society sucks because there will always be something about every society that sucks and, in short, the whole world sucks.

Sorry but you are wrong is saying that Australia was a prison colony founed by rejects!!! NOT ALL people who emigrated there were convicts! Only very few. I don't get annoyed or offended easily but when someone disses my heritage watch out!
My grandparents emigrated to Australia from France! There were not convicts at all!
Alot emigrated to Australia during the Gold Rush and helped to create a great country!
