Does anyone have weird mood swings or pains DURING their period? This seems to happen to me

YES! The first two days I'm curled up in a ball on my bed (if it's a bad one), sometimes bawling my eyes out because it just hurts. I typically describe the cramps and the level of pain as "imagine someone twisting your insides into a pretzel. And they do it over and over again," because it can get that bad. Luckily I don't get really bad ones that often, and my gyn in college said not to worry about it. _________________ There are only 10 types of people in this world: those who understand binary and those who don't. |

Aw I hate it when that happens. Usually when I distract myself from my period, it eventually goes away That could be something you could do. Maybe watch a funny movie or do a physical activity will help. |

I get the munchies about 5 days before the flowing begins. About a day or two the pain will start and will contiune until the period is over. I hate nature sometimes... which is why I combat it with birth control, my doctor said I can use them to skip 3 periods at a time and then have one.... what freedom!!! Ask your doctor to see if this method is good for you, because it's not for everybody. _________________ Humans are intelligent, but that doesn't make them smart. |

I would love to be able to use BC but last time I was on it I kept getting dizzy spells and passed out a couple of times. I just get the eebie jeebies thinking about how good for one's body skipping periods is. Because when it happens naturally that means there's problems, and the pill that lets you skip hasn't had too many long-term studies done (maybe some two-three year studies, but nothing like 10 years or longer. I don't like the idea of being the FDA's guinea pig for medications either). I like the idea in theory, but have to wonder what the effect on one's body is from the accumulation of chemicals from medications in long term use. Not to mention the FDA *does* fast-track things without testing too thoroughly. Not cool! _________________ There are only 10 types of people in this world: those who understand binary and those who don't. |

| Yeah, I don't have PMS, I have DMS - during menstrual syndrome, it seems. I am in pain so of course my temper is awful. Before it is all normal. |

I used to have severe pain. Last Spring (2007), was so bad, my legs would give out walking across campus. Not fun, esp. in winter, esp. when you're trying not to draw attention to yourself.
July last summer: period pain, and a 3 week migraine that would not quit, the last couple days of it so severe I thought about going to the hospital. Also, extremely tired.
Started taking Omega supplements for a different issue, a friend recommended it for muscle twitching. Helped that, but also I've had very little period pain (very slight cramping) and only two migraines since last July. I used to occasionally have the aura (visual scotoma) without the migraine, haven't had any of those since then either.
The tiredness I still had, but come to find out later, I had almost no vitamin B12 in my system. Found out the hard way that I'm weird and don't react well to the most common form of B12 (cyanocobalomin)--causes SEVERE mood issues (Note: this is a completely undocumented side-effect, as far as I know I'm unique in having this reaction). So we switched over to methylcobalomin (the less common form), and that seems to be working better.
Energy levels are back. Still having severe moodswings, but not as bad, but that happens in Spring when everyone starts spraying their lawns (the lawn chemical exposure, even in just walking past a sprayed lawn, gives me cysts the size of golf balls in my breasts, and sometimes triggers rage issues), so waiting to see on that issue, this Fall, when there are fewer chemicals in the air.
Also, my new neighbors decided to spray their lawn, so I'm getting more of a direct hit than I normally would, and...its not fun.

I always get stomach aches during my period and will sometimes have mood swings. But more often than not, it's just the pain. _________________ Normal=average

I usually get my pains at the end of my period, like it wants to go out with a bang and not a whimper. All I can do is curl up in a fetal position with a warm compress against my abdomen and wait it out. _________________ My brain: walnut-sized/ Yours: largest among primates/ Yet, who leaves for work? -Cat Haiku |

I have horrible cramps on my first day! The cramps are all over my entire thighs. It's a really hard feeling to describe, but it's extremely painful. It kills me to stand up, sit down, and lay down. I spend at least half the day crying over the pain. Pamprin typically helps, but not always. _________________ "We got the feet back!"- Ruth Cole, 'The Door in the Floor' |
