Every now and then I get the insane urge to do something NOW...I just have no idea what. I thought that was an ADD thing.

WOW! When I was a kid, this happened ALL THE TIME! And TIM, the idea(if I understand others right, as it is what happened with me) is a STRONG feeling that you URGE to do a particular thing, but just don't know what.

Yeah! When I was a kid, this most often manifested itself as, "I want to build something!" But I never had any idea... I just wanted to make something now.
Nowadays it's more of a desire to do something, have something... I never know what I want to do (this frustrates my friend: "Like what? Can you suggest something?" No...) or what it is I want to have.

Yes. It is very frustrating. I used to feel it often as a kid, made me miserable. It happens rarely now.

I can remember something like this, don't know if its just something that happens to all young people though, an excess of energy or similar. Not sure if its an ASD symptom or not.

Sounds like my sons.

I think it's because they have so much energy and such intelligent brains.

Lucky we live on 2.5 acres and I can make them go outside and burn off their energy.

I tend to get myself in this situation when I feel like I need help and just can't seem to work out why or how. I feel like I'm just saying 'please, please, please' but never get anywhere except to drive myself more nuts. And it is so hard to shake off.

Yeah. It's probably especially abd if you have ADHD, because then you're already driven by a motor.

Yes! From time to time, I also get this feeling and it's frustrating.

In my case, I think it's because I like to planify my days in advance and when, somehow I fail to do this, I feel like I want to do something but don't know exactly what. Of course, improvising is usually not an option.

Then, if someone asks me to do something (either alone or together), I agree immediately because then I know what to do.
