I do that. Even with people I get along with and spend time with (not "friends" per se, but friends of friends). If I think they don't want me around, I avoid them, and it sometimes leads to long periods of not interacting even though neither of us actually has a problem. _________________ "Maybe the ones who have it easy are missing part of the adventure."

When I was doing my employment skills course, I did this also for the first few weeks. After that a few people started to approach me. After a few times of being around them, they stopped approaching me.
I guessed they didn't want me near them anymore so I stayed away. _________________ The hero is no braver than the ordinary man, but he is brave five minutes longer

| i used to do that a lot more. now, depending on the situation, if i already know the people i'll go join them, even if i don't really add much to the conversation. the simple fact of me being there and listening to the conversation without anyone being overtly offended or bothered gives me comfort. it makes me feel accepted. |
