Oh my god... the moment I found out I might have AS, I began pestering my mom for a disability dog (I already have a dog, but to have a dog that can come with me into a restaurant, a doctors office, anywhere--oh my god!). She didn't believe there was such a thing for AS/autism... but... wow.
You just made my day (or night, actually, but whatever), and I thank you. So much. |

Am LFA and would not be here if it wasn't for non humans [cats],so know the power of a dog.
Am thought Assistance dogs had become standard here, but must have gotten mixed up with the US?
Am have Pets As Therapy visits [they come out to res. home with a pet of choice,or can arrange to come out to many other places, just not private places as it's not in their insurance] and recommend these guys so much to anyone who connects more to an animal than a human.
Whivit,
the assistance dogs are more common in the US. _________________ [LFAutie]

Dogs help ME connect, and I don't know if I am autistic or not. _________________ According to the scales, I am going to be living on birdseed and carrot sticks for the next 20 years. |

I've felt more connected to the world, since I got Chico, four years ago. I used to see most people, as villains, before that. _________________ Sid The Rat is everything that I stand for. | What a wonderful thing. I hope more kids can get such a dog. Just the companionship alone sounds like heaven. Would have helped me when I was young. |

More common in the US than in israel, or more common in the US than anywhere else? Because I'd be willing to move to the UK (obviously not now, but when I leave home), but not to the US. Actually, I'd be willing to live almost anywhere except the US, ehe. |
