I'm Chris, a 25-year old animator from Edmonton. I haven't been diagnosed with Asperger's yet, but I've been reading up on it for the last little while and it's all hitting a little too close to home for me. All my life I've always felt different from other people and unusually socially awkward and know I finally understand why. I even took a few Aspie quizzes just to make sure and the results all came back positive.
This comes as a great relief to me since for the last few months, my doctor's been improperly diagnosing me with schizophrenia and wondering why the medication wasn't working. We've both agreed this is the most likely diagnosis, and I'm seeing a psychiatrist later this week to confirm it. I'm just glad to know I'm probably not crazy and, judging from all the lurking I've been doing around here, there's lots of people out there like me.

I was also misdiagnosed with a psychiatric disorder before AS. It was called "brief psychotic disorder". I'm not even sure if thats a real thing!
Realising you have AS may be "close to home"...but it will be a relief to finally know why you are the way you are.

| Welcome Chris! I'm glad you were able to finally figure out a dx, especially if you'd been caught in the quagmire of a schizophrenia dx. I can imagine the medication must've been rough! |
